At least we won't have Harry Kane taking penalties.

Newcastle United's Carabao Cup fourth round tie with Bournemouth has been brought forward by 24 hours due to planned NHS strike action on Wednesday, 21st December.

United had been set to face the Cherries at St. James' Park a week on Wednesday but due to the planned action - which affects North East Ambulance Service, the club's long-standing provider of ambulances, paramedics and match command - the game will now be played a day earlier on Tuesday, 20th December with kick-off set for 7:45pm.
All tickets purchased for the match will still be valid.

I don't think he'll go that strong from the start. Fairly convinced wood will start. I don't think Bruno will start so probably Shelvey comes in. Likely longstaff starts for one of the other two midfielders. I reckon Lascelles and Manq at the back.

Given that Bruno, Wilson, Pope and Trippier were all rested for most of the World Cup games (Tripps got a couple of games but not the latter ones unless I missed it) but Schar played for Switzerland I'm not sure the resting of those players makes sense.

Due to the fact the rest of the lads got a 2 week break and holiday into their legs for some R&R. We're about to play more than 26 games in less than 5 and a half months with a very weak squad depth.

We should go for a full strength team for this one, as well as taking the comp seriously, it will make the first team 100% for for the Leicester game.

And ASM is an injury doubt after Saturdays friendly, surprise sur feckin prise.

ASM's injuries already look as though they could genuinely end his career early. He can barely string a few games together any more and the amount of strapping/bandaging he needs is just insane.

For someone who is only 25 he looks like he's seen his best days already. Hope I'm wrong, because I like him and think he adds something different. But just can't help feeling he'll either be shipped out in 2023, or just be a bit part player off the bench. Shame really.

Sadly agreed. Has all the ability, but maybe it's just his mechanics.

I also think from the little I've seen, ASM is quite poor at other aspects of the game; passing, head up stuff. I don't think that's going to sit well with Eddie. The difference can be seen from Almiron's transformation - he's shown how to be a pass & move, intelligent player. Does ASM have that? Not sure. He's electric when he's got the ball deep and running at people, but when he's got time, or it slows down, or more subtlety is perhaps needed, it's all missing.

I'm hoping that once he's back and fully fit the fact we don't have to play him every single game and then try and channel everything through him (added to the opposition targeting him for kicks) may mean he finds it a bit easier to avoid injuries. Previously I suspect we played him with niggles because we had few options. I've seen a lot of people write him off but his last match for us (Man City at home) he was first class, possibly the best player on the pitch.

In Eddie's pre-match press conference he gave a special mention to the fans behind the goal for their part during the penalties in the previous round.

Well done to the Not 606 Cow Milking Crew. <applause><applause><applause>
