I am pleased to see that Rosie brought Sinik on to play right wing / right back this afternoon. Sinik looked much happier and didn't have to keep cutting in to get on his favoured right foot. At the end of the game we only had 2 defenders on the pitch - Greaves & Christie, I'm surprised that Sunderland didn't press us in injury time period as they could have got the 3 points.
A few being harsh on Rosie here, he has a way he wants to play and has not yet had an opportunity to bring in any players to play it, compounded by the fact that a third of our squad are out injured. It was certainly two points dropped today, they were poor and we still looked too pedestrian, so I understand the frustration, but there’s still plenty of season to go.
Agreed but let’s be honest there’s 10 yards in total. He isn’t the answer, however if we continue to use doc and slater as the people to create and supply the service kane would struggle
Hull boss Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm disappointed to not win the game. The first half was quite edgy and neither team looked like scoring and I told the lads at half-time to have a little more confidence and belief in the way that we play. "We won the penalty and got on the front foot and were in complete control. Unfortunately we've missed it - it happens, Harry Kane misses penalties as well. "Then the red card happens and I feel for the lad because I think he's got a really bad injury, but it's one of those where it is a red card - I've just watched it back. "I was worried because when you have that much control and dominance you can switch off. I was screaming to the players once I saw the red card to Sunderland to stay switched on when we had the ball and we didn't for one moment in the second half and paid the price. "But we showed a great deal of resilience and character to play our way back into the game with a great goal from Ozan and great bit of play from Ryan Woods." Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Newcastle: "He's [Elliot Embleton] gone to hospital, he's been taken to hospital in an ambulance and is in a lot of discomfort. I don't really want to comment on what we think it is. "Our club doctor thought it was serious enough for him to go to hospital. He's in a lot of pain and hopefully will get looked after well. It looks like a bad injury. "I've watched it back super-slow and think the referee will be disappointed when he sees it. He's sent the player off - the ball was bouncing and they both jumped. Elliot catches him with his knee in the player's arm. He does flick his foot but there's no contact as he's falling backwards, maybe natural to protect yourself to try to prevent falling on your back hard. "The contact was with the player's arm with his knee. It happened fast and maybe the player rolling round and holding his head made him make that decision. "We generally controlled the game in the first half - on breakaways they had a threat."
Exactly, he’s clearly a penalty box striker and we are using him majority of the time out of it. Tetteh would be first choice in this system
Well he hasn't started the last 2. Slater for me is doing his bit to keep the shirt at the moment. Whether he keeps it when we get out proper flair/attacking players back remains to be seen.
"The contact was with the player's arm with his knee. It happened fast and maybe the player rolling round and holding his head made him make that decision.” That’s poor from Mowbray, Woods went down holding his arm, never touched his head.
Whilst as the manager LR uses words like 'resilience', 'belief' and confidence (I'm waiting for him to use the word fortitude) quite rightly the fans use the words boring, crap, useless and ****e. Was not having Pelkas available today the difference... was it ****. Twice in two games we looked x 10 better when Tufan came on AND YET..... I wasn't at the game today as I had to be in Cirencester, but didn't matches with Sunderland usually create a cauldron of noise...
Pleased with the point but not the performance. Rosie trying different formations that seems to confirm he is not sure yet who to trust. Oscar well off the pace {understandably}, Longman has amazing energy but lacks finesse and Seri is a class above the rest. Smith simply not good enough. I live in hope but it's going to be a tough second half of the season.
