The whole sorry Sarr affair makes me hope that when I wake up on 2nd January it'll be to the news that he had been sold. He undoubtedly has has skill and pace to burn, but far too often he appears to be unwilling to burn any of it during our matches. I'd far prefer we signed a replacement who is prepared to put more effort in on a regular basis, even if he isn't as talented - surely to god there are some out there.
Watching the game last night against Hull, I kept thinking that it was a game designed for Sarr, with so much room behind the Hull defence for him to run into. Last time we were in the Championship, with Kiko behind him, he looked superb with almost no full back able to match him for pace. Because we have had no regular right back, the understanding between him and Kiko has been missing. Also, because we have been so poor in attack, he has been given a main striker's role, wandering across the front line, which I don't think suits his style of play. As with each player that is brought in, does well in attracting attention, we will know that their time at the Vic is limited. The juggling act that Pozzo has to consider is, will he help us to get promotion? Is his attitude towards playing good enough to retain him. Will we get our valuation for a player that wants away? If we do keep him for another six months, what will his value be then? It does come down to Sarr in many ways. A player who wants away is rarely worth keeping, but we don't know if he really wants away.
Adam Leventhal seems to think Sarr was given extended leave so goodness knows who is right ? Or if everyone at the club was on the same hymn sheet!
Although we did miss Sarr we had bigger problems in that we had NO actual midfield players available after Chowdrey went of injured, we had Pedro playing the defensive midfield role (he did well) and Asprilla playing the normal Pedro role, Asprilla is still a prospect and not the finished article If Chowdrey had not been injured we could have posed a much bigger threat Without being unkind to Asprilla he should have been replaced by Bayo at half time so we could have played a bit more long ball and put their defence under more pressure Manaj should not have been played as he was obviously not fully recovered
It's very hard for players of real quality to shine/play to their full potential when those around them are a few steps/thoughts behind them.
You can see Pedro was getting frustrated and actually Walker straight off at the end down the tunnel .
Adam Leventhal does confirm in his article in the Athletic that Sarr (who arrived back in London on Monday) was given extended leave after the World Cup, but he does not make it clear whether that extra time included the weekend.
Sounds like the usual mixed messages from the club depending on who you believe!? Even Andrew French has suggested now that a senior member of management gave Sarr more time off but Bilic didn’t know . Of courses had we beaten Hull no one would be that bothered. Least Sarr was back today I guess .
That is a fair point. Maybe a sub at best . Just sounds like a classic case of people thinking differently in a situation.
Saturday's ref announced - let's hope it's a case of third time lucky. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...watfords-game-huddersfield-town-championship/
£35 million for Sarr? If true, and any club offers this, I say grab it quick smart... https://tothelaneandback.com/2022/1...tag-on-tottenham-hotspur-target-ismaila-sarr/
Cover for the midfield injuries but having not played for a while must be an injury risk himself having not played for a while if he is expected to suddenly start doing so . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...lic-brings-midfield-free-agent-vicarage-road/
One of the guys I go to Watford with said after the game on Saturday that Martins was brought in now so we could offload Sarr in January so he may well have been right He might just be on the same wavelength as Pedro so we could see more successful attacks in future
Tottenham are interested in signing Wilfried Zaha, 30, on a free transfer when the Ivory Coast forward's contract expires at Crystal Palace in the summer. (Football Insider) Zaha for free or Sarr for £35m hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
