Good Morning. It's Thursday 15th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road 11 sidelined for Real Sociedad test Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and Rasmus Kristensen are all in contention to play a part in Friday's friendly against Real Sociedad amid an Elland Road injury crisis that could see as many as 11 first team players sidelined due to injury or illness. The trio returned from World Cup duty unscathed, and resumed training earlier this week, thus making themselves ready for team selection, and it's a good thing too. Patrick Bamford, Luis Sinisterra, Stuart Dallas, Diego Llorente, Crysciencio Summerville, Sonny Perkins, Illan Meslier, Kristoffer Klaesson, Junior Firpo and Robin Koch are all expected to miss out, giving Jesse Marsch a difficult selection dilemma. Real Sociedad are flying high. Only Real Madrid and Barcelona are above them in the Spanish top flight. We can only hope that the Arctic weather conditions will play into Leeds hands, otherwise, it could be a long evening tomorrow night. please log in to view this image Bookies predict Leeds to survive the drop Leading Bookmakers Bet365 are predicting Leeds will survive the dreaded drop, come May! Nottingham Forest (8/15), Bournemouth (4/6) and Wolves (11/10) are favourites for relegation, whilst Everton (13/8) and Southampton (13/8) are both expected to survive (just). Leeds are next in line at 4/1, a massive difference in odds, compared to the other five. Real Valladolid right back Iván Fresneda may only be 18, but has already broken into the Real Valladolid first team squad, amassing 467 minutes of game time, placing him 6th in their 'Whoscored' ratings (6.74). A number of Premier League clubs have also shown their interest, which has tripled his price tag to a little over £25m. Although undeniably a top talent, a left back and a striker must be priority, followed by a top centre back. We need to remember, we are only two points from the drop zone. Fresneda is a luxury, we can do without. please log in to view this image
There's no chance we're spending £25m on an 18 Yr old right back. I'd snatch your hand off for 15th as it stands. Not sure when our luck will change with injuries, we do seem to have more than out fair share, whatever the reason is why.
All I want for Christmas is a left back and a striker. Same as last year. I'm with Gessa. Snap your hand off for 15th.
Makes much sense, not! To pay £25m for an 18yo RB and sell a 20yo RB and England U21 star. Actually makes no sense so the story is nonsense. Any £25m we have should be spent on ensuring survival by buying a striker who will score goals. How about a LB and preferably one not being coached by Firpo On the injury front too many were pleased to blame Bielsa last season but seems we have a bigger squad this year and still having 50% out injured or ill.
Morning itk people. So many injuries without playing so thank heavens we have the first hand info from the usual click bait sites. There are two friendlies and an open training session before xmas. So let's see who takes part and who is really crippled so much they may never play again. I know as much as everyone on here regarding the squad and fitness.. Nothing.
Meanwhile, looks like the troubles mount for Huddersfield. Shockwaves have been reverberating around Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium after it was revealed its management company could be at risk of going into administration due to debts running into millions of pounds. Since it opened in 1993, the stadium - where Huddersfield Town FC and Huddersfield Giants play - has been managed by Kirklees Stadium Development Limited (KSDL). Now, “full operational control” is set to be handed over from Kirklees Council to Huddersfield Town. The stadium is in need of between £8m and £10m worth of refurbishments over the next 10 years to address a “backlog” of maintenance issues in order to extend the stadium’s life until 2050. The bulk of this work needs to be done over five years.
Always enjoyed going to Leeds Rd to play against the dogz, especially when Frank Worthington graced the pitch. How the mighty have fallen since getting into the prem
Amazing, we go into the return of the PL campaign with more players injured than prior to the World Cup tournament, more or less half of our squad unavailable. Thankfully, our three WC stars remain unscathed, for now!
Morning all. More good news this morning. Im pocketing a 620k bonus from Fifa for our players involvement in the World Cup. And its mine all mine
That is newer and cheaper to maintain than Elland rd. I bet the 49ers wish that was all they had to spend.
We should find out how true the Meslier story is soon, because it was supposed to be between Bayern Munich and Leeds signing the Croat keeper. Bayern lost Naur who is now out until next season due to a skiing fall and we wanted to replace Mez. Bayern say they have never been in for the Croat because they are trying to bring back their own keeper who is on loan at Monaco
The difference between last years injuries and this seasons is less key players this season. Firpo, Llorente and Bamford, really who cares if they’re injured, they shouldn’t be starting. Dallas hasn’t featured this season, we have already accepted he might not ever be good enough again and Klaesson and Perkins, come on they’re u23s. We can put a very good squad out, the question should be is it wise too when it’s bitterly cold and injuries are there to be had
Don’t forget Koch as well because if he’s out for City who plays CB and if it has to be Struijk….. we have 2CBs out and 1 playing LB or do we square peg again by using Ayling at CB? So forgive me Rich but the heart of the defence is affected at this moment
Koch is returning to training this weekend, Jesse has already said Meslier is the one he is most concerned about in being ready to face City
We’ve got to get them ready for the restart and we can’t do that by not playing them. Reality is that you can pick up injuries anytime, most of ours seem to be in training.
