Indeed. Two countries that don't need any encouragement to declare their hatred of us. Relish it in fact. **** them both

Rivalries aside, it's what you want to see, two evenly matched sides on paper, a couple of superstars and two of the more successful nations in these tournaments

Argentinian governments have used The Falklands as an issue for decades, even with Maradona dead some will still spout it. And French fisherman have blockaded ports and got up to do good. Macron follows in the path of de Gaulle. Other than self depreciators I don't know why people would ignore that. Sure many likely don't 'hate' the UK (or England, as many foreigners seem confused between the two) but don't put blinkers on.

As for the final, it's boring seeing the same teams all the time. And superstars are overhyped anyway. Happy at least that the media idolisation of the Brazilians got derailed yet again. They've been looked at as some exotic superhuman footballers for decades, the grass is always greener on the other side I guess (particularly for some English people).

Yep. If people take the time to try a bit of the language instead of going straight into English it’s amazing how well we can get on. Times moved on from old grudges. A lot I’ve spoken to where genuinely sad we left Europe.

I am still trying to work out what Maradona being dead has to do with the Falklands war.
I suspect he suffers from extreme xenophobia.

A boy has been killed in Montpellier amid clashes between France and Morocco fans following the World Cup semi-final.

A statement issued by the local government office said the boy was "violently hit" by a car in the city, in the south of France, on Wednesday.

He was transferred to the hospital, but died shortly after arrival, the Department of Herault said.

Seems he was one of many rioting Moroccans attacking French people celebrating in various parts of France, much as they did in Belgium and Holland. They came across a car with a French flag in and attacked it, so the driver understandably tried to get himself out of the situation.
