Low on confidence, the players go into what is actually (despite what many may say) a pretty tough game at home to Accrington. John Coleman's side are always a spirited outfit with committed, passionate players and will certainly not roll over. They always seem to over achieve and have certainly given us some difficult games at AP (1 win for us, 1 for them, 1 draw).

This combined with the probable absence of Johnson and Westwood leaves the nervous prospect of Winfield and Bennett in the centre of defence - both of whom hardly covered themselves in glory v Southend. Also, as usual, the Wycombe home crowd will come into the game expecting an easy 3 points.

Hope I'm wrong, but we've seen it before this season.

Looking on the positive side nonetheless, we have a returning JP, who looks to be in decent form, a goalkeeper in Bull who saved a penalty in midweek, and an assertive manager who will demand a response.

    Thoughts and predictions please:

I look forward to every Saturday but always fear the worst. I suppose that makes me a sort of masochist.

How many games do you get to a season Ron? 2 or 3? More or less?

None I'm afraid. I'm in France. I watch the live score all afternoon while watching racing and/or doing some work on the computer. The last game I went to was against Aston Villa and we were absolutely brilliant. The place was buzzing at half time and many Villa fans were disappearing by then as we were by far the better side. The main problem was the ticket office. I paid by card before the match and they held the ticket under the wrong name and by the time they let us (my daughter and me) in we were 2-1 up.<steam>

Sergio Torres was playing for us then, as was Nathan Tyson but Tyson went off injured, which may have cost us the game.

i agree they wont roll over and give us the 3 points and now matty b has been added to the missing list of injured players it is a worry.i hope this is not the start of what jenny would call a wibble wobble we have seen too many of them over the last few seasons.i think we should let jp partner rendell up front despite what a lot of people say about jp being an impact sub he deserves his chance he can do it from the start of the game.i would also like to see montrose replace the injured bloomfield and bring donnelly on if needed.the defense is a worry with westwood missing.i would go for a hard fought draw on this one but i hope i am wrong and we take all 3 points:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Sounds like 1-1 and 2-2 could be a decent bet.

I didn't I'm afraid Rocky. Timings and costs make it difficult, and as a student it will get worse most probably. Well done to the fans who did travel though. Having seen the highlights, I thought the defending was dreadful, particularly for their first. Pittman's goal was very well taken and expertly crafted but I thought that to concede a third after scoring an 89th minute equaliser showed a real lack of professionalism and concentration. I can see why GW ordered the players in for extra training.

Nevertheless, I believe in the manager and hopefully we will get a response, although as my original post indicates I think Saturday will be tougher than many may have you know.

js on another note do you think waddock and leon have had a fall out or is he really injured because he doesnt seem to be getting much game time and in my opinion bennett is not as good as him.

I think there might have been a fallout, yes. Having said that, if you look at LJ's performances this year, I don't think they've been all that impressive. I do think that at league 2 level he is a good centre half, and like you, I rate him as better than Alan Bennett. I would also bring him back into the side on Saturday but I don't think he's played to his potential this season.

For me Waddock needs to find his two best centre halves/the most effective partnership, and stick to it. I think based on performances this year it would be Westwood and Winfield. Obviously injuries haven't helped but chopping and changing doesn't either. Stability breeds success.

bennett worries me and i can now see why brentford got rid of him and i also agree leon hasnt been at his best but he is still better than bennett and given more game time he will get better.

I think LJ has the ability, he just needs the management to give him some belief (and of course game time).

Accrington are a good side and will be tough to break down, but we should still be going into the game confident of winning. We're on a great run at AP and there's no reason to dread the game, we are challenging for the title still after all. Unfortunately I can't make it tomorrow so will be relying on you guys for the usual post match analysis.

Awful, awful performance and result. Sickening to lose to such a rag tag group of cloggers in Accrington. But we were very poor - especially in defence.

i agree worst blues performance of the season they ran around like headless chickens all the game.there was no width to our game, ainsworth had his worst game in a blues shirt and playing strevens as a winger is a no no.bennett well my fears about him before the game came true he was useless ,mind you winfield next to him wasnt much better.we missed betsy and bloomfield big time.rendell played well and deserved our man of the match.beever had his worst game for us but he should have stayed on the pitch and strevs should have been subbed,we needed a goal and waddock should have took strevs off not beever.every time we had the ball at the back there was no one to pass to and thats where we missed betsy he is always available to pass to and today we had no one to give the ball to.leon has to come into the team for the next game bennett just isnt good enough. i dont like criticising players but today they deserve to be slagged off they were useless and i think even they would admit that.i am an admirer of waddock and what he has brought to our club but even he got it wrong today,it was clear things were not working but he did little to change it ...................rant over .....bring on the abuse if anyone disagrees with me.

I agree regarding the sub. I couldn't believe our most creative player (Beavon) was taken off while Strevens stayed on.
Ben is a trier, but he had no creativity today (not the only one) and seems to lack spacial awareness.
I really can't think who I would give MOM to today. Not many candidates.
