I'm not one for moral victories usually, but tonight i'm bursting with pride for our team. I thought out tactics were spot on (well done NW) and every player busted a gut for the jersey. This is a truely magnificent City team, IMO they play more like Arsenal than Utd except with a strong English spine. I wish them well. Having watched the match, the following are my honest observations: a. When playing at home we need to be more adventurous (like tonight). We need to play like the home team and take the opposition on. We busted a gut tonight and played some excellent football at time. For the first time in ages we created several good chances. b. HH is dangerous in the air and can give the best of CBs a difficult time. With good quality coming from the wings he will score us goals. We need a winger who can cross. c. SWP gives 110% every game, his effort, energy and enthuasism are beyond question, but his end product really needs to improve big time. d.Faurlin is an excellent player and will only get better. YES, he is not the fastest in the world but by god has he several other great qualities. e. Ferdinand is quality but as he showed tonight he will make the occasional mistake. Would love to see him playing with a really good CB, ie Bassong f. Barton is solid but not world class like he thinks he is. Can't see where derry fits into this 4-4-2 unless injuries or suspensions. g. There is a small element of doubt with Paddy at his near post. Twice tonigt, once last week and once a few weeks before. Not criticism just an observation. h. Our fans are magnificent. Superb. i. The premiership is lightining fast. The top teams have great great pace. Just look at spuds last week and City tonight. We have very little genuine pace. We can't play a counter attack game. We need to buy a forward and a winger who can really turn on the after burners. Maybe Defoe? Great game, great performance, well done guys.
All good points Nuts, very proud of the performance tonight, and I think it shows that we have what it takes to stay in the PL this year - especially when NW dips his hand into Tony's wallet and buys a couple more players in January. Performances like tonight will encourage players to come to LR when we come knocking at their door in January - think the future is bright for all QPR fans
So proud of both players and fans this evening. Absolutely gutsy performance against a team of quality like Man City. Where is 77 now and does he still want to get rid of Warnock?
Our new stadium most resemble LR. The atmosphere came across as just fantastic. We have go all out to replicate the tightness. No team will fancy coming to play us at LR
We were superb! So, so, so disappointed we didn't get a point from the match, though. A few other observations: [1] Didn't miss Taraabt [2] Mackie put the fear of God up 'em at times - welcome back, Jamie! [3] I just luuuuuuuurrrrrrvvvvvvvvvvvvvve Paddy Kenny [4] Please can we have someone who, when we get to the edge of the penalty area, takes the ball and gets a shot away! U Rssssssssssssssssssss
...and another thing: please can we have that sort of performance every week for the rest of the season, please? [It would be nice to be beating the likes of Blackburn at home...]
Faurlin exceptional, Barton good at times but overall the midfield were all excellent and worked so hard. Bothroyd i thought was very good but Heidur was exceptional in the air and at holding up the ball. Defence was vunerable on the counter and Ferdinand should have showed Dzeko down the line for the first goal. Really proud that we had the league leaders running scared throughout the game. Also it shows that we need to change to a 4-4-2, so much more fluid and creative than our usual formation
In reply to the several observations would be regarding SWP. Firstly, SWP is now 30 (I think), so no question that his final ball ability has reached its peak. Secondly, NW will only get the very best from SWP when he plays down the right; a few times this evening a run down the line was on but SWP cut inside. For HH to benefit from SWP, he has to play right-wing. Just my thoughts, on the whole he played very well, but the odds are stacked against him playing left-wing.
Agree with much of what you say Nuts and Husky. Can Mackie play on the left? SWP's energy and activity can't be faulted, but the final ball......interesting to see Puncheon at last, net really long enough to make a judgement though I was screaming in the pub when he lost the ball on halfway line .....
Mackie is very much about energy; perhaps playing him off the left wouldn't take away too much from his game?; he's not the best crosser so the loss to the attack wouldn't be so great. It would definitely be worthwhile allowing them to swap for a half or during a half
Anybody know a winger available in Jan who is not too expensive, has blistering pace, loves taking on defenders, can track back, has a great engine, can cross the ball with percision? LOL
faulin was great so was mackie.city players not used to being hassled on their own goal line paddy mmm great in places..is he the shortest goalkeeper in the prem.certainly throws himself around still undecided on barton.he can be wasteful.especially his free kicks heider never stops..hard to believe nw didnt rate him great display today unlucky not to win need to spank stoke or the bloke across the road will be ****ing unbearable
All three goals were examples of clinical finishing, that's why they are top and really the title is their's to lose...
Lots of good points which i won't go through - Only one suggestion. Traore needs to spend some time practicing crosses, he was great getting in the right place to get the ball across but they were to low or on the ground, we have two forwards good the air give them a chance. I'm not having a go a him here because he is getting into the right places at the right time which is the hardest thing just some polishing needed. Don't think you can lay any blame on Paddy for Dzeko putting the ball in at the near post, that the danger of allowing someone to cut inside, opens up the goal for them. You could say it was a defensive error but to be honest Dzeko on fire at the moment, you could say Gabby let Toure get infront of him for the 3rd but to be honest the both performed well and I won't critize anyone after the overall performance.
While it was frustrating to see Traore get in good positions but then give a weak final ball, I think it was his cross for the 2nd goal. Mind you also his cross that led to City's 2nd! Overall looks a very good signing and still young. Wenger will regret letting him go.
Strangely enough, I was going to, but decided that it was the wrong thing to do yesterday. If this was a one off I wouldn't mention it, but it is not, it is happening too often for my liking. On the other hand, he does look good coming out of defence with the ball.
