Booing is catching on. The England Rugby and Football teams have both been booed off the pitch recently, and I nearly spat out my tofu when I read a letter in the Grauniad about booing at the Royal Opera House because one of the singers wasn't loud enough. Whatever next- boo for carers?
I think the general levels of dissatisfaction are rising right across society. People are becoming less tolerant of relatively minor annoyances. When something they were expecting to enjoy (as an escape from the depressing outlook in their working lives) doesn't deliver, they are more ready to vent their disappointment. Everything seems to be getting worse, and nobody is offering credible solutions. Truss trashes the economy in a week and we'll all be paying for that foolishness for years to come - many will lose their homes because of it. People can't afford their bills and feed their kids, or get medical help, and none of the sleek fat cats in power will take any responsibility. I think we're all sick and tired of hearing that it's the Pandemic and Putin, when we all know that the complacency and incompetence of our leaders is as much to blame if not more. We had crises piling up all through the summer this year - stuff like this for example... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-63808516 ...and what was the Government doing? In-fighting for months and months over who should succeed their disgraced ex-Prime Minister. Everything in our society has been underfunded and run down, many times for decades on end. And now we're close to the end of our tether as a country. Having said all that, I expect that back in Victorian days a poor performance at the Opera would probably have got booed as well. Politeness among the masses is a dividend of contentment. Something we are sorely lacking in these grim times.
speaking of boo boys... did anyone see what peter varney posted/asked for? "passionate atmosphere to showcase the club" against brighton
Don't quite know what to read into that. We're desperate for something positive to see and end to the downward spiral under Roland/Thomas, but you can't help hoping..................................
That was my reading, though it was so understated it really could mean anything (or nothing). I'll wait and see, but I remember a few Charlton fans saying that anything was better than RD, and it coming back to bite us in a really big way. We're not an attractive purchase right now, so be careful what you wish for.
It is definitely something. I would say something good. Not easy though negotiating with Sandgaard and Duchatelet.
Only a fool would say anything was better than RD, and I don't recall anyone saying it on forums I read. Maybe some said it on CL. But CL is such a huge forum pretty much everything gets said there by somebody. And of course we don't have anyone better or worse than RD because the mean old scrote is still the man. It's clear now that Sandgaard has been his very useful idiot.
Not going to get too worked up, remember the Upper North singing We're F***ing Rich, and the away fans singing back You're F***sing Sh1t.
This is the point. If they both want all their money back, as has been the case, interested parties will simply walk away, as the Aussies did, and as the Alex McLeish fronted consortium did. Even contacting the Belgian is no easy task.
No lasting good can come to Charlton Athletic until Duchatelet is gone. He never had the Club's best interests at heart. In that respect, he is as despicable as Southall, Elliott and Farnell.
I reckon February could see a return for booing IF we have a poor transfer window and are still floundering.
Their tails are up after Saturday so I expect he’ll swap the team about , drop the better players and get some old pals playing
