There is a big story here I thought Phil Hay or Graham Smyth should be looking at. Midgley left Leeds in August to join Man City, so what went on between him and City I wonder? Manchester City have snatched Paul Midgley this summer, who was head of national academy recruitment for Leeds United before his move, according to Phil Hay.
Well that was a nervous wait yesterday. Between my sons and myself we had two phones a tablet and PC set up to get Man city tickets. Well the PC and Tablet kept buffeting when we tried to get on and one of the phones kept saying no tickets available. But luckily the other phone worked and we got three ticket in the North stand. Now I can relax.
Went the Walsall v Carlisle game today, Ryan Edmondson took his goal well but didn't catch the eye for much else, league 2 looking his level.
I watched Kings Lynn V Stevenage in the FA Cup and watched Norris’s bag a couple inside 2 minutes. Yes watched that rather than the WC games. Also Hartlepool had a good FA cup with Alex Cairns catching the eye in goal and Clark Odour playing at LB and getting MoM, Lewis Bate was on the bench at Oxford
Strange game that one as half time had an interview with the strictly dancer Kia Widderington who’s brother went off in the first 20 with a hamstring and his dad is Tommy Widderington and he’s the manager. For those oldies Tommy was a Southampton stalwart playing with Shearer and Le Tisier etc. we forget the stories at these small clubs when all you see is billionaire prem football
Anyone remember when the YEP were hoping we would get Gerrard from Villa as he wasn’t having a great time there. Then we found out why it was because his No2 had left him and gone to QPR and they were having a great season. So much so he was offered the Wolves job which he turned down. Looks like he’s going back to Rangers where it’s obvious he made them a force and not Gerrard
Anyone heard from Norway recently, just wondered if he or any of his mates had attended this Bielsa seminar?
Wrighty remember is big mates with Kalvin Phillips so his praise for Adams is another feather in the cap of the club. In fairness we never saw much of Phillips last season so another reason why this seasons team is better Ian Wright wowed by Tyler Adams as he gets N'Golo Kante vibe off Leeds United ace Ian Wright has likened Tyler Adams to N’Golo Kante as the Leeds United captain shines for the USA at the World Cup in Qatar.
Adams is a very good player but his range of passing is limited, now imagine we'd kept Phillips and had them both bossing the midfield as that would have been the ideal scenario. Was never going to happen of course which means we're no better off than last season and if Tyler picks up an injury then we'll be fooked.
This is true, worth remembering we’re only two points above the relegation places though we do have a game in hand.
That’s the key of course to how we strengthen as a pl outfit. Adding to quality rather than trying to replace it. Southampton have been doing that for several seasons and are making no headway. Just hope we can get a second season out of Tyler
Agree on Adams - cracking little player… great defensively (if a bit prone to ball watching on crosses), really quick and ready to set up counters with shorter passes but he’s no playmaker. By having 2 pivots we’re arguably more exposed as it’s 2 players we now have no real cover for… was hoping the mckennie rumours a while back were true but if his World Cup form continues then he’ll likely be priced out anyway
