First time in 59 years of age, I've lost my wallet at lunchtime when out shopping. Its been a very traumatic experience cancelling half a dozen cards and annoyed with myself on how it fell out of my pocket when I was struggling to pull some gloves out of my pocket.

Just had a knock at the door and my wallet was returned. I've been reduced to tears for the kindness and citizenship of the lad, who must have gone out of his way to return it to me in Fulwell when I lost in Washington.

Prayers have been answered and I pray he knows God's blessing.

There's some good people about mate, you're lucky your wallet was found by one of them.
I can honestly say I would have done the same.

    Good to hear mate.

I still think there are more good people than bad ones in the world. It is just modern media and the social media age seem to revel in the misery.

Be nice to read more good new stories like this on here. Nice to smile every once in a while.

Few years ago a family member lost her purse in Amble, went there visiting friends. Naturally she was beside herself and distraught. Sat in a caravan in bits, her phone rang and it was her Mam. A young lad had found her purse on the street and took it home. The lads mam phoned the none emergency police line to report the find. The police, asked if there was a driving licence in the purse, there was. They then took the address, ran it through the DVLA, found the home phone number and phoned home. Her mam then phoned her to tell her that the police in Amble had her purse and asked where she was. The police then brought the purse to the site. It was unbelievable then and it still is now. Massive gratitude. A day later, she logged onto Facebook, (wasn't as popular as it is now), sat in the inbox was a message "Hi, have you lost your purse". The Mother of the Son had tried to message her on Facebook aswell and contacting the police. Fantastic. Glad you got your wallet back mate. Terrible feeling.

Lost my wallet, searched everywhere, emptied all the outside bins, nothing, cancelled all my cards and rang the police to see if it had been handed in, nowt. Our lass walks in from work lifts a magazine up off the chair to sit down and the bloody wallet was there. Took three weeks to get all my cards back again<doh>

Brilliant news, it's right what others have said, most people are honest and trustworthy.

About a month before Christmas 40 odd years ago my missus lost her purse in a car park in Stanley. She realised when we got home and because she was in a panic, she asked me to ring the police.

I rang them and a purse matching the description had been handed in. The desk sergeant asked me how much was in the purse so I asked her and she said just a couple of pounds. I passed that message on and the he asked me if I was sure so I asked her again, she said well there might be a bit more, about £20. I passed that message on and he said there’s a bit more than that son.

It turned out that she had been holding the money for the works Christmas party and had £280 in it but was frightened to tell me because it was about a month’s wages for us and we would need to pay it back. I made a right fool of myself on the phone to the desk sergeant but had a good laugh at my expense with him when we went to pick it up.

Is it the norm now that your card won’t work and has to be swiped first if you go away for a break. Works normal after that.

If you are referring to the replacement cards, the Bank said they will not be contact less until the existing pin is entered.

No mate, I usually find when me and our lass go away when I first use a card it’s refused and I have to swipe it, then it works ok after that. One lass in a shop reckoned it’s just to check it hasn’t been stolen and being used somewhere else.
