28yo soon be 29. Done both cruciates and has a worse goal scoring record than Rodrigo over the last 2 seasons, but Rodrigo played in midfield…… doing ok so far this season though but does that mean he will score in the prem?

May aswell stick with what we've got, especially for that money. I don't want us to buy anyone else from Spain, especially if Orta picks them

Trouble is any forward we buy will be a risk for the money we can spend. Personally the youngsters are looking good up front. I’d rather pay some good money for better defenders, we ship a lot of goals, which is a concern since we play with two holding midfielders.

… and then the next concern is two holding midfielders… but only an 18 year old or converted attacking midfielders as realistic cover. <laugh>

I liked hjelde from the first time I saw him. Young and inexperienced though. Is he ready to be a regular yet? Looked good at wolves last week to be fair

Hearing that Maguire is history at Utd and Ten Haag wants him gone. He hasn’t even picked him today and is playing players out of position gather than play him or Wan Besaka. Apparently the £85m they paid for him is going to be a big loss but not bothered if they lose £60m on him. Slower than an oil tanker but would you want him cheap

We will have to get rid of Llorente first.

Don't think it would take much persuading to get him to go, getting someone to have him could be more difficult.

Hjelde said last week he sees himself as a CB and that’s he’s preferred position.

Absolutely… he played left back on loan in Scotland because that’s what Ross county needed… but he’s a career left centre back. I wasn’t intending to suggest him as a solution at left back (except in emergencies) … was pondering whether he was ready for the PL at centre back... not many 19 year olds are.

The Chelsea kid on loan at Brighton had a storming game today and he even missed a sitter. Levi Colwell is the main competition for Cresswell for England U21s. Colwell helped Huddersfield last season into the play offs. So CBs like Colwell can do it at a young age maybe Cresswell and Hjelde can, for sure both are more mobile than Cooper

I'm 61 and as mobile as Cooper <laugh>

Joking apart, it's mixed feelings for me, I have come to the conclusion he's no longer good enough but it pains me to say it, as he always gives his all, all game every game and you can't ask for more than that.

Big fat no from me on Maguire.

We need more pace in the back line and the only way we'll get that is with young up and coming prospects. Correctly we identified Ben White as one but weren't able to secure an option to buy or push through a deal once his loan spell was over. With hindsight we should have gone to £40M if necessary that first season back to really test Brighton's resolve.

The task now is to scour Europe and identify the next hot prospect then pay what it takes before they come onto the so called top clubs radar. The advantage we have is we can offer first team football straight away and a pathway to the top whilst in the shop window of the PL. We'll just have to accept that if they do well and Real Madrid, Barca etc come calling then we have to let them go.

Fofana cost Leicester £35M (age 19) but it proved a very good investment.
