These days carrying your new telly is like carrying an envelope. Progress if you ask me.

Don’t think that was the case back in the 1970s.Most TV companies these days use other manufacturers screens as relatively few make them. Sony use LG screens for their OLEDs and Samsung screens or their QD OLED sets. Because of the tweaks the do the same screens look different though.

I've had my Samsung for 9 years and it's still going strong. Like the day it was born.

Samsung weren’t even making TV’s when I worked at Newland Televisions and Bang and Olufsen were the best available at the time.

Keith was the owner, he restored classic cars in his spare time, he used to give me a lift home in his E-Type.

Yep, they're pieces of **** for that too. Anybody that craps on somebody for something they can't help is pond scum.

But let's face it, they just looked great. They were no better than any other telly.

Enthusiasm here in the States is tepid as well, and it's been eight years for us. The event should have never been awarded to Qatar. What is it about large, international entities which inexorably drives them to corruption?

The other bidders were Australia, Japan, South Korea and the USA. Any of those would have been a much better choice. I mean Oz might have been a bit of a nightmare given the time difference, but I’d stay up for it. With this mess, it’s just not worth it.

I can see some players just not being bothered.
Will also be interesting to see the refereeing in Qatar’s games. I didn’t realise they had managed to get to 50th place in the rankings, considering their squad is pretty ****e.

Aus has got a large supply of people from around the world, who haven't been lured there as slave labour. Many games would sell out.

True. My mum used to work at Granada back in the 70s / 80s. Not only renting tellys but videos as well. Must have watched most of them during the early 80s.

NuBar on Kingston Road Willerby is named after the TV shop Nuway Electrical that was there before it.
