Grant had a team playing for him and keeping it's head above water, even pulling off two great results before he was sacked. Not sure any blame can be left at his door. Given this amount of money to spend who knows where he would have taken the team. It's irrelevant though, we have what we have and need to deal with it.
our worst player was arguably woods who is a recent recruit. our best was probably Docherty. There's no real "ghosts" and I think its clutching at straws to blame that if anything
We lost to a poor side, who we made look half decent and will be down there with us. Thank God for the WC break. It couldn't come at a better time to try and gel. Over and OUT.
sorry na, how was docherty the best? He runs and drives which I like, but his final ball and output was way below standard, open the eyes.
They never looked decent. It was the most smash and grab 2-1 win I've seen in a long time. I can't recall them having many chances
Grant had less points then now and if we axed the ghosts of grant we’d be far better off convinced of it. Touch vision and decision making slow and ****e.
Problem is the next team after that break is Watford. Which isn't going to end well I don't think. I'm hoping we have no injuries by that point.
Docherty was up there as he was at least driving the ball forward at points. Not his fault he was played out wide for 60 minutes which isn't his natural position
doc was statistically worse then woods if you’re using that for reference. I suggest watching moneyball gives an excellent insight into how analytics dictate results.
if you have the deep analytics feel free to share them. For what its worth I dont think woods had a bad game just everyone on the team probably had a 5 or 6 out of 10 performance
Still such a makeshift team at the moment , done well to get 4 points on the board during this transition period and we where the better team today even though we weren't at the races. Reading where fortunate to win with a helping hand from the ref.
Honestly feel like apart from set pieces the game was a drab 0-0. We lack a proper drive in the final 3rd
Docherty I think has a place in the side, but as a side wanting to push on with European standard players and keep the football we need to work out an identity. We have a mix and match side. Statistically the grant lads do not find men as much as the lads who have come in, over the course of 40 games they will lose the ball more often and cause problems, we need a mix of the two without doubt but numbers do not lie. Maybe that’s the engineer in me but it Is basic sense sometimes, look at a Man City, not about grafting it’s about finding men, the more often you can find a man in your colours the less chance they have to score. Over the course of a full season, this will always beat hard graft with men not technically up to standard, follows the xG model and as soulless as it may be, it works.
Doc runs and shows plenty of heart but he isn’t of a standard to take us forward. Technicallly he’s reached his ceiling
State of some the comments on this thread, probably from the same dickheads who can’t manage a minutes silence once a year.
