When they release the attendance figure it will show if how many empty seats there were. You would think a World Cuo quarter final would need a bigger stadium than that. So, if England RL played Lithuania 3rds at Wembley how many do you you think would be there? Man Utd fans in Hull will have been disappointed with all the pubs showing the rugby league today. Bolstered by all the ones staying overnight who had locked in boosting the economy.

Outstanding game, great intensity. Still think England are too strong for Samoa, and should book a final place

If they get to the final they will meet for the first time in the competition a country with a professional league, in fact the only other country with one, Australia, or New Zealand a country with only one professional club that has to play in Australia. Though there have, unlike England, won the World Cup.

Meanwhile the Rugby Union Women's World Cup
New Zealand 34-31 England: Black Ferns win World Cup with dramatic victory
The Red Roses had a chance at victory with one last line-out - their most potent weapon all tournament - with the clock in the red but lost their throw to the delight of a ferocious record crowd for a women's game of 43,759.

Not a rugby fan by any stretch of the imagination but I appreciate a good game and a good team performance when I see it. The England Womans Rugby Union team were immense today against the odds. To have a player unjustly sent off in a World Cup Final so early against opponents who are playing at home in a stadium where no NZ team have ever lost a game yet come so close to winning it was an incredible performance. I thought we were robbed to be honest. Bit churlish to say that but that's how I saw it, every decision after the sending off went against us. The way everyone in the England camp just sportingly accepted it is credit to them. Well worth getting up early to watch the match. Hope City equal the England girl's effort this afternoon.

Well, well, Samoa beat England to reach the final.
Though Samoa were one of the fancied sides from the off.

Yes. Massive nation with a population of 50,000 less than Hull.Wonder if anyone will beat a team 10-1 at the start of a football world cup and then lose to them in the semi final?

Both semi finals have been absolutely enthralling. Hopefully the final is the same. Fingers crossed the Women and the Wheelchair sides get through their semi finals

Country population size should mean dominance of a sport?
India must be in mourning this week.

To be fair, none of the Samoan team live in Somoa and only something like two of them were born there.

So the teams catchment of people of Samoan heritage will be far greater than 50 thousand.

Have 1.6 million people left New Zealand since their last census? New Zealand despite their small population and such a lack of interest in Rugby League that they have only one professional club which has to play in Australia have won the RL World Cup something England has never done.
Some chances in both codes as Italy beat Australia in union today. Which can only be good for RL and Union not having the same countries dominant all the time.

If sporting prowess is proportionate to a country's population, then China should win the RL World Cup.
