They just said on Tyne Tees news how Callum Wilson was the only candidate to replace Kane, if it was needed. That would be Toney, surely?
Tomori has been in really bad form all season. He doesn't deserve to be there. Maguire doesn't either mind, it should have been Guehi if it had to be a CB, but really it should have been a left back.
Decent squad on the whole. The first XI is strong but depth is lacking in a lot of positions. I'd have dropped Maguire and taken another left back (Aaron Cresswell would have been my choice based on underlying stats from this season). Trippier will be back up left back which isn't ideal. Kalvin Phillips shouldn't be there either, though I'm not sure who else I'd take to cover that position specifically. I'd have taken Tammy Abraham as an additional striker option instead. Gallagher is a solid choice who deserves a chance. I had 2 other options down for this spot along with him - Ward-Prowse and Eze. I'd have taken Eze out of the 3 as a wildcard but I understand the Gallagher choice.
I think we should just pull out on humanitarian / moral grounds just to save face. We'll get ploated. Obviously hope I'm wrong and this gets bumped to fu(k
Yep, Tomori hasn't been at his best. But Southgate would never have picked him anyway judging by his attitude towards him in the past. Maguire going tells the full story about a manager stuck in a mindset, hoping for a quarter final, and another job on the back of it. He is looking backwards now, when once he was looking well into the future. He's lost his bottle IMO.
Kalvin Phillips has apparently only played 1 minute of PL football and just 53 minutes in all competitions this season !
