    Bull.

It's well known we bid for 2018 and it was Europe's "turn" but blatter got a shed load ro give it to Russia.

Then the 2022 was awarded the same day and usa wanted it and were "due" in the rotation

2006 germany (robbed from non europe)
2010 South africa (cos blatter robbed them in 2006) this one should have been Europe
    2014 Brazil (americas)
2018 (back to europe, see pattern)
2022 Qatar but usa wanted it and had put a lot of money down to get it.
    2026 usa

The pattern is supposed to be

    Europe, Americas, asia/row

There's far far too many dodgy agents and cut takers voting with their fingers in the pie.

It's user corrupt but for blatter to be calling it when he was gone after by usa and nailed to the wall is the height of hypocrisy.

You could say that Russia was a European choice since they play in the European Championships and European section of World Cup qualifiers

They were but they also bought it out from under England for the "joy of putin" rather than anything else.

Putinat the time was on a massive bender of showing off to the world and bought the winter Olympics, f1 and world cup.

    I don't think people realise that 40% of Europe's land-mass is Russia.

It does but also a huge proportion of Asia's land mass.

Russia getting a European world.cup in itself is not at issue

Russia bribing to get it is.

I wasn't getting involved in politics, just geography, and pointing out that many people don't realise that Russia occupies (in the legitimate sense) a large part of Europe.
Over 75% of Russia is in Asia, but the bit that is in Europe still covers 40% of its (Europe's) total land-mass. Also 75% of Russia's population is west of the Urals.
Therefore it has a legitimate claim to be considered for anything that is classed as European.
    Not including Ukraine.

    europe is tiny really.

it really is quite odd historical occurrence that we find this small region dominating the globe from 1500s to 1900s

    a) south america/central America civilisations. why did they not spread north more. compare and contrast *****l empire to incan or aztec for example. hat was the limiation? wiriting?
    b) Chinese empire. what stopped them spreading more? why did they build a wall?
    C) great african empires. nubian, egyptian etc why did egypt stop at borders and clash with Hittites and not progress? corruption, too early in history for communications and disance?
    d) middle eastern empires. persian and precursors etc. samekind f thought process.

We had the roman empire stretch from scotland through africa and using very similar type of communications to the *****ls. roads and messengers.

Russia today has an interesting history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_evolution_of_Russia

It is an interesting one that this country is not seen as an expansionist empire historically because IMO primarily the vast swathes of Asia hey grad over hundreds of years is **** holes nobody cared about.

At this point i doubt you could split Russia into separate states, it'd probably never work.

If Europe wants to resolve the Russian expansionist issue then you have to economically break it to the point it sunders as it can't afford to prop up the outer extremities with cheap vodka and cigarettes any more.

same plan and 1980s. the soviets cracked and it sundered into FAR TOO MANY STATES. (europe in effect is far far too many little states who will just get rolls over by an force who wants them) What you need to do now is break russia itself into many sates and parcel them out.

Mané ruled out of the WC with knee injury. That's our prolific former front three all staying at home each for a different reason. I don't ever wish injury on anyone and other than where the competition is taking place I would feel sorry that all three are missing out on the biggest games of their lives but it seems in my mad mind that they have all been 'saved'.

I'm not knocking your beliefs - I wish I could share them - but I can only think of the poor sods that have died making the thing happen and can't believe a handful of celebrities can be "saved" through any other reason than coincidence.

mane had just picked up his form as well for bayern.

tier biggest gams imo were CL finals and ACON finals as IMO standing about in any world cup as also ran is not actually that big a deal is it?

    just a box ticking exerise

Mane's numbers are played 23, scored 11 assisted 4 - pretty much as per mane. Esier league but has had a bit of issue settling in and also barn blamed fatigue as well (lazy)

3 goals and an assist in CL helped pad his numbers out as really the Bundesliga figures were not great until recently.

he's always been a 1 goal in 2 games man and 1 assist in 5. which is exactly where he is at bayern now. (a ew games v the smaller teams has helped him out)

another shame but he went to 2018 world cup so its not like he's had a tragedy. the box was previously ticked

    BTW:

James ruled out ahead of the england squad announcement on thrusday.

Its almost (almost) certain trent will go to sit on the bench and be kicked in training so he can watch trippier play

26 man squad seems to give southgate scope to pick half fit players like phillips and walker

Its 50/50 on Henderson having to go as well which obviously we would like both to stay home and get into a preseason camp in December

the more players who don't go to this debacle the better imo.

Henderson is 100% going. Not sure why you think it’s 50/50

I didn't mean saved in the religious sense, (my particular belief doesn't really know what that means). I meant saved from having to wrestle with whether what they would be doing was morally wrong. Remember when you could watch football, play football, wear clothes, eat food, drive cars ...... without the simultaneous moral dilemmas?

If everyone was fit I don't think Southgate has any use for him. As it stands England have limited options.

Don't want to derail the thread but just for a bit of clarity, I'm a Catholic not a bible Christian. I don't believe in the need for saving - sorry if in my former comment I confused some by putting the word in parentheses, on reflection I shouldn't have done that. I have now explained above what I meant.
