You can analyse all you want but for me Marcelo was like a breath of fresh air and got us into the prem. his brand of football when it worked(which was most of the time) was pure poetry For that I will always be great full
What Marcelo did with that squad was absolutely outstanding. Unless you're @ellandback in which case he bought his way to success
Couldn’t agree more. What I meant was that I was hoping promotion would have meant Orta getting in a better quality of player for Marcelo to work his magic on.
Who exactly did Bielsa 'transform'. I'll give you Klich, and admit that Cooper was less of a liability for a while and Bamford had one good season.
Bielsa had constraints on what the club could afford and said so in many pressers. His real problem was small squad size that didn’t cater for the highly unlikely event of massive injuries. I think that shocked him badly. The January player refusals were all loans who Bielsa didn’t think would work in his tactics, but we all thought stop being pedantic and get some bodies in now, anyone to make up numbers, but he refused. So in reality he didn’t have much cash to get the players he wanted and was then forced into square pegging and damaging his reputation. I’m sure if he had to do it all again, he may decide to not have one of the TA pitches built exactly like the new one at ER, and some of the other stuff so that he could have a player or two.
On that Basis, Jesse Marsch has transformed the careers of Rodrigo, Summerville, Adams and Struijk Rodrigo for 7 goals. He only scored 6 all last season. Adams had been all but discarded by RB Leipzig, until Super - Jessie came along. Summerville for actually getting some game time, and showing what he can do. Struijk - discarded for much of last season, now top of the Leeds rankings under Marsch Once Bielsa's tactics.... sorry tactic (singular) got found out, he had nothing.... Marcelo's 'special' relationship he had with the fans, seems to be clouding people's judgements.
Err, an entire squad of mid table championship into premier league players unless I’ve dreamed the last few years. Turned Bamford into an England international as an alternative spin. Turned Raphinha into a Brazilian international. People talked about whether Ayling, a 250K signing from Bristol City, deserved an England call up. Turned Ben White into a 50 million pound player and England international. Will that do for starters?
