    Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds Utd
EFL Cup - Third Round. Wednesday 9th November @19:45pm - Molyneux

Leeds will be without the services of Patrick Bamford, Adam Forshaw, Stuart Dallas and Luis Sinisterra on Wednesday evening as they face off against Wolves for a place in the fourth Round of the League Cup.

The Leeds No 9 was a surprise exclusion from their Match day squad that beat Bournemouth 4-3 on Saturday. It is believed he picked up an injury in training, but details of the ailment have not been released. Bamford has not completed 90 minutes of game time since September 17th 2021.

It remains to be seen whether Jesse Marsch makes wholesale changes to his starting line up, knowing they face a trip to Spurs at the weekend, before the squad jets off to Spain.

Wolves find themselves in the precarious position of the drop zone. With ten points from fourteen games, only goal difference separates them above Nottingham Forest at the foot of the table. This will be Julen Lopetegui's first game in charge of the West Midlands outfit. He is predicted to rest a number of first team players in preparation for Saturday's game against Arsenal.

Diego Costa is suspended after headbutted Ben Mee (last month v Brentford). He received a straight red card for violent conduct.

Not bothered either way. Hopefully we win and keep the momentum going but if we lose at least it gives Wolves a fixture congestion.

Wolves have quite a few injuries and will surely concentrate on the league game with Arsenal on Saturday due to their position. I think we could mix it up here Can see Ayling,Llorente,Firpo,Greenwood,Gnoto,Klich,Gelhardt starting and a young bench. It's a shame but no bugga cares about cup games these days until the Q/F's

Would be a nice little warm up game for Man City if we can make it to the next round.

Momentum, that’s the key word. Let’s keep this winning run going.

I always want us to win. But we’re not in the kind of league position where we can afford to prioritise this. The resting of a number of u21s today suggests there’ll be a few of them at least in the squad and I’d expect game time for Ayling, klich, firpo, llorente. Quite like to see struijk at left centre back - ages since he’s played in his ‘best’ position, but imagine Leo might get a run out.

    Robles
    Ayling, Llorente, Hjelde, Firpo
    Roca, Gyabi
    Harrison, Perkins, Gelhardt
    Joseph

Going to be involvement from the 23s if Marsch bottles using first teamers, even though only one league match left?

Play a strong team, a crushing defeat for Wolves could really hit them psychologically

Think we all know what the team will look like Rich. All manager/coaches now use these games to keep the squad happy rather than really wanting to win the game and progress. Of course they pay lip service about it being an important match but team selection always proves otherwise.

I agree but so annoying. I’d understand it more if there was no break coming up, we could make this no wins in 5 for them, Arsenal and you’d expect none in 6 before the break.

I know we can still do that but I’d go all out

A quick glance at the other ties this week shows there's the possibility of getting a fairly easy assignment in the next round. Which as @leeds down south pointed out is the week before xmas and therefore an ideal time before the PL resumes for us on the 28th Dec.

We really should be going all out to win this one.

Expect massive changes, a dreary match and the inevitable defeat as we'll lack any fluency and cohesion which is always the case in these cup ties.

Hmmm why do i get a sneaky suspicion that some clubs will claim they have too many players at the fake world cup and have games called off.

Not usually bothered about cups but given that were competitive against the top clubs wouldn't mind if we made an effort in them, especially as they'll mostly be on holidays from next week

Half the teams in the World Cup will be coming home after 2 weeks and I'd expect England to be done by 4th December at the latest.

I see Sepp Blatter has now announced that giving the world cup to Qatar was a mistake. I thought he'd be guest of honour, he's ****ed that gig up now.
