WATFORD v COVENTRY CITY Vicarage Road Stadium Saturday 5th November 2022 Kick Off: 1500 GMT please log in to view this image Watford have moved back into the play-off places after a rocky start to life under Slaven Bilic. The Hornets have been up and down the Championship table a lot already so far this season, but four wins in their last five games has seen the team head back into the play off positions. Despite many off field problems Mark Robins' side finally moved off the bottom of the table, and up to 20th now, following a series of good results. A pitch that was regarded not fit for football was not a good start to their season, then their landlords Wasps went into administration, and now the owners of the stadium have gone the same way. They are hoping that a buyer will be found by the time they come back from the World Cup break, but if not they may look at a ground share with Walsall. Facts Three of the last four league meetings between Watford and Coventry have ended 0-0, including the most recent encounter in February 2021. Coventry are winless in three league visits to Watford (D2 L1) with their last win there coming in September 2009 under manager Chris Coleman. Watford have won 17 of their last 21 home matches in the Championship (D1 L3), keeping 14 clean sheets in this run. Coventry have won their last two away Championship games, last winning three in a row at this level back in August 2007 under Iain Dowie. Coventry City have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four away league games – the Sky Blues have never kept five in a row on the road in their league history. Team News Hamza Choudhury will be available for selection having served his one-match suspension against Cardiff. There is no news as yet about Keinan Davis and Craig Cathcart who both missed the win over the Bluebirds through injury. Coventry will be without Matthew Godden, Fankaty Dabo, Liam Kelly and Martyn Waghorn, who all remain absent through injury. Coventry away results: Won 2; 1-0 Cardiff. 2-0 Stoke Drawn 4; 1-1 Sunderland, 2-2 Luton, 0-0 Bristol C; 0-0 Birmingham Lost 3; 2-3 Hull, 2-3 Millwall, 0-3 Norwich 10-12 10pts So their away record is very similar to ours, having beaten both Cardiff and Stoke, drawn with Birmingham and lost to Millwall. This is identical to us in the same games that we have played away.
If we're going to keep pushing to have a shout of automatic promotion, this sort of home game is must win. Four wins in a row would really put a marker down.
Being a Saturday afternoon 3.00pm kick off, no video stream is available with the Hive for those in the UK.
Strong words from Bilic on injures and modern players pain threshold! https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...oss-bilic-discusses-pain-thresholds-injuries/
Travelling south tomorrow via Newcastle to see Lindisfarne Bible exhibition so will not be with you but will keep an eye on things. Thence on to Dorset for a week. If you search for a stream you should find an overseas Hive stream. Enjoy the game and COYH for 4 in a row.
Having thrown so many points away already, they all are from now on really. Can't see it happening, but if QPR and Norwich both did us a favour by losing today, we could be fourth in the table this evening. Assuming we win of course...
By the time the league is stopped next weekend for the World cup, we will have played a couple of games short of half a season in a little over three months. I think in the past couple of weeks, the teams with the bigger squads have started to benefit because of the relentless games. Once the season restarts, a lot of teams will have more of their first eleven available again. This will potentially make life even harder, we really need to bag points in the last three games this week.
Was rather hoping that Burnley would beat Sheff Utd - or hold them to a draw. Never expected the 5-2 current scoreline though - and I'll bet Burnley weren't either. A veritable blitz of goal attempts from the Blades in the second half.
Bilic asking for more of a Luton positive atmosphere than what he thought was a negative one v Swansea . Well it does kind of depend on how we start .. One game we scored after 2 minutes and won 4-0. The other we were outplayed generally and lost in injury time.
