Hi fellow-posters! It wasn't a second phase of Covid that was hitting me, it was a longer-term internal issue (I'll spare you the gruesome details!) that had just deided to take a nasty turn for the worse. I've just come back out of hospital, where I'd been for the previous 10 days. All the preliminaries (tests, scans, draining a cyst....) have been done, and now I await the summons for the main surgery. Hopefully in the next few weeks.
