On a lighter note , talking about minorities, just found out today my new work colleague is a blue nose. How long can I take the piss out of him for having Fat Frank as manager and they’ve won fcuk all for years before I can get done for bullying?

I don't agree with the last bit. The problem is that ethnic minority is not just black players. It's where the focus always is and every reference on this thread is black players. How many British asians get overlooked and why is it that Kick It Out only ever bang on about black players, rarely if ever bringing a spotlight on the lack of asians being given a chance?

Before we look at black managers lets address that. I'm not for metric quotas, but the percentage population of asians isn't represented at all at the highest levels in professional football.

I attended trials with a mate of mine whose son (an asian kid) went for a trial at Wycombe almost 20 years ago. He was one of the top 2/3 there easily. Didn't get a look in. I know it was some time ago but I don't see much, if any, progress.

Not being funny but until the PFA and Kick It Out can show the same commitment to all ethnicities as they harp on about black players, the ppl crying over black managers can fck off.

The references on here have focussed on black coaches because that's what the thread is about - Vieria's comments specifically concerning black managers.

As you and others have pointed out, there is more to diversity than black and white. <ok>

If the question is - what do you think about Vieria saying black coaches deserve an equal chance? Then that's the question that will be answered. Being a teacher you should know that :bandit:

Any discussion like this will be expanded, as it has been. You seemed surprised (?) that people were focussing on black coaches when that was the initial question. That's all I was responding to in your post.

    You remembered <laugh>

Which is why I was only picking up on saintsKlopp last point about ethnic minority players and not the rest of his post.

Not surprised no, I wasn't criticising anyone, just saying that's where the focus is and can become quite easily. Tbh I don't want to go on about it, just gets my goat that Kick It Out and the PFA always focus on black players/managers and the history of how they broke through. It's endless repeats about Cyril Regis and Viv Anderson like that's all that matters in breaking the glass ceiling, it's not.

On Viera, I like how he's gone about managing Palace. He seems very calm and down to earth. I really hope he does well. On this point though, he's a black manager from another country whose managing a PL side. There's more chance of that happening than a British black manager. And pretty much zero chance of a manager from another ethnic minority because they're not coming through as players.
