At the moment we are but it's a long way to go. One thing we are in the top half and it's lovely looking down on you.

 

Don't really care where Sunderland finish. Sunderland can finish top of the league and us second and I'd take that.

lets face it you finished above us by default as we waltzed the championship at a canter and the same side came up and murdered you lot 5-1 despite just being promoted.

we then gifted you a higher finish than us on the last day of the season despite only just being promoted. we then beat you away from home after one of the worst pre seasons i've ever seen and after supposedly losing all of our best players. we're now sitting pretty in 3rd with a quarter of the season out of the way whilst bruce is doing his utmost to run you into the ground. i'd sy all of the above would be evidence enough to suggest that we're a superior outfit.

like a mag you can pick all the best bits from your season but we are still top dogs. and we are playing better football then you so where you get this superior outfit from is beyond me

right now i know you're a WUM. thanks for confirming what should be blindingly obvious. i regularly frequesnt your board and have seen first hand how many of your fellow mackems have been slating the tactics and lack of striker your lot have been employing this season and they've been generally disgruntled by it. newcastle fans on the other hand are very happy with our brand of football at the minute. we've been in the main very free flowing only switching to a more functional/effective tactic when the fixture calls for e.g. stoke the other day.

And as for the bad bits of our season, fortunately being undefeated tends to signal that there haven't really been many to date. Long may it continue. Get your mackem blinkers off son.

A Sunderland supporting friend of mine and I agreed a methodology for determination of bragging rights (otherwise known as "topdogness") prior to the start of the season, which are set out below:

Each point obtained by either club in the derbies counts for one point e.g, the season gone by would have been Newcastle 4, Sunderland 1

Each place above the bottom of the table counts for one point e.g. Newcastle 8 Sunderalnd 10 (or alternatively, each league place which one team finishes above the other: Newcastle 0 Sunderland 2)

Anyone wanting to do the maths will see that Newcastle acquired last season's rights, and that the current tally would be 14 - 0 for the Toon

To answer your original post, yes I think we will finish higher than you. So far there's been very little evidence to suggest that my assumptions will be wrong.

Discussions about who finished higher in the past few seasons are irrelevant. So far this season, we have 22 points and you have 10. We have beaten you, at your ground. Why would we not think that we'll finish above you?
