Yeah, Gil won't solve our problems and he's still pretty raw but he'll bring some entertainment, make us less predictable. The most natural replacement we have for Kulu.
That first half was simply disgraceful imho. That's where we failed to win the game. I have been very supportive of the team and Conte but that half (along with the United and most of the Newcastle performances) were very reminiscent of watching us under JM and Nuno. 4 attempts in the first half is appalling particularly compared to 15 in the second.
Was it? Who? The only thing I didn't see was Emersons position when the cross was hit in. No way was Kane ahead of him when he headed it (backwards) - and it came off the defender to Kane!
The suggestion is that the length of time is because they quickly realised Kane was ahead of the ball but then had to make a decision as to whether the touch from the Sporting player was an attempt to play the ball (which would have meant Kane was onside) or a deflection (which means he’s off).
Yeah I think his skill and unpredictability opens up gaps for Kane and Son. If he got regular starts too his confidence and play should improve as well. Cameos do very little in the grand scheme of things, especially when separated by weeks at a time. No one wants to see Lucas given his 100th chance to prove himself, Gil’s time should be now. If Conte also stops playing those useless ****s, Emerson and Doherty, and gives a Spence a go then him and Gil down that right could cause serious problems for many teams.
It did but that isn't relevant. It's all about the attacking player's position relative to the passer, and Kane was marginally ahead of the defender. The other marginal call was the decision that when the ball hit the Sporting player first and changed direction (i.e. a meaningful impact), it was a deflection and not an interception, i.e. the player didn't make a conscious attempt to play the ball - it just hit him. Both marginal calls and as others have said, if it takes 3 minutes to make them they aren't 'clear and obvious' in any sense of the expression, but I personally am calm. ****e first half, brilliant second half - a draw is a fair result
Will need to win at Merseille to qualify.IMHO (so Conte better not set the team to play for a draw) .
Kane's position vis-a-vis Emerson is irrelevant. Where he is vis-a-vis the defender is all that matters, and he was (marginally) ahead, while the other defender (marginally) didn't intend to intercept the ball. Right call, wrong focus post match. VAR will dominate the headlines, just as Ronaldo's strop did after the United defeat. Takes focus away from the real question which is, to quote Brian Blessed: "WHY THE ROARING **** CAN'T WE PLAY THAT WAY EVERY BLOODY GAME???"
Dunno what to say mate...kane was ahead of the last defender AND the ball when Emerson headed it...makes him offside. The deflection was accidental by the defender so doesn't change Kane being offside...I'm pretty certain that's part of the offside laws
Yes. If we lose and the other game is a draw then Sporting go through as they’ll have a better head to head against us and Frankfurt.
