Spurs away in the cup in 1981, thousands of City went down, first big game I saw us play against a glamorous team.
A great day out - our bus broke down at Biggleswade and we had to push start it on the way down. Got there in time though. Certainly one of Waggy's goals (where he brought the ball in from the left and took it around Bonetti) is included on the Waggy and Chillo video.
Orient 4, City 5. I was one of the hardy few hundred who were located behind the goal for a memorable comeback. Not sure which year but about 1984.
Has to be Norwich at home when the young buck in the north stand broke through the ranks of stewards and headed into no man's land between the supporters. He looked for someone to hold him back and no one did. It resulted in some rather pathetic milling with a visiting supporter. I think his balls may have dropped that day. I heard he was a relation of Ronnie Pickering, bare knuckle fighter of this parish.
I was in the side stand with the bench like seating . That was 1984 and it was a brilliant day and even better comeback 4 to 1 down with 25 minutes left .
Did Flounders get 3 or 4? Still don't understand how we sold him for 5k to the Scunts (possibly, my memory is ****). Also, for the home match we won 5-1 I think. Whitehurst hattrick?
I think half the tiger nation claim to have been there. There were about 3-4 hundred. Shame we didn't meet up after the match for a west end show and a meal.
Certain Flounders got the winner, a tap in at the far post. Stan McEwan got the equaliser from the spot . The other 3 are a blur but Billy Askew rings a bell.
Paul Simpson (Simmo, RIP) got ejected when we were 4-1 down, oh how we ripped the pish out of him when he got back on the coach. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
