The good news, Haaland the Cyborg didn't score today. Reset for breaking Vardy's record. He'll break records in abundance, he can afford to leave that one. The bad news, I noticed Leeds haven't won away yet this season
Phew! Any kind of win was a good one. We've now conceded 24 corners in our last 4 matches and not conceded once. We've kept 3 successive clean sheets at home. Things are looking rosy! Forget all that nonsense about swallows and summers, top 6 here we come!
Vardy needs a goal ... Barnes on song is a real handful ... good performances defensively and throughout midfield... JJ could be a late shout for a world cup spot if the defence builds on these latest performances ...
Was the team more balanced last night with Praet in the line-up? When Maddison plays we sacrifice a player wide right to support Castagne which leaves us very exposed when he gets forward. I wonder whether we should bench Tielemans when Maddison returns and keep that wide right player.
Step away from the sherry, it's not Christmas yet Hopefully all of these things are building confidence and we can go on a good run now. Although we've 3 away games we do need to sort our away form out. Wolves aren't all that great so, Sunday would be a good day to start.
Maddison is going to be sold either in January or the summer. There's no way he's going to sign a new contract at Leicester.
Another 9 corners repelled. A third consecutive clean sheet against a free scoring Wolves side. More of the same next week, please. Just remind me, who are we playing?
Clinical performance... most telling thing was how much they all seemed to be enjoying it. Cracking goals and and committed defensive performance. That's 4 clean sheets in the last 5 PL games. Wout Faes is looking like another tremendous acquisition and Barnes, Justin and Maddison all surely knocking on Southgate's door. Got to keep the momentum going ... but we are certainly looking on the up ...
100 PL goals for players over 30 for Vardy. Hopefully, like buses there'll be a few more soon. And we've scored more goals at wolves than wolves
Clinical finishing indeed, but more than a little concerned how easily Wolves players found space between our lines. If we continue to play a flat back 4 next week I'd like to see 2 defensive midfielders filling that space in front of our central defence.
Two weeks late but the Christmas fixtures are now out. Liverpool and Fulham both moved. 26th Dec Newcastle 3pm (H) Amazon 30th Dec Liverpool 8pm (A) Sky 3rd Jan Fulham 7.45pm (H)
Quite like today's formation and good to see Soyuncu back. I hope he's at his best after a long layoff. I would have preferred to see Mendy or Ndidi in place of either KDH or Tielemans, as we look a bit short on defensive capability in front of those 3 central defenders.
It's all very quiet on here after last Saturday's match. I thought there were lots of positives in there. There was desire and togetherness all over the pitch. Danny Ward looks far more confident with Faes in front of him. The whole defence looked fairly comfortable, even against set pieces. Barnes had his best game for a long time. Tielemans actually looked interested and didn't give silly free kicks away. The main area of disappointment was our lack of finishing power when we managed to break out. Iheanacho was the only one capable of holding the ball up and looking composed. I thought that, on the whole, we showed good team spirit. Next couple of games are now massive after Leeds win at Liverpool. I don't want to be seeing Evans coming straight back in if he's fit. Faes seems to have the ability to organise the defence, so Evans isn't really needed.
Couldn't put it better ... especially the last bit ... Jonny has been a bit of a defensive liability for some time now ... Brenda needs to avoid 'sentimental' team choices ...
I wish we’d been a bit more adventurous from the start. We were at home against City, who’d been away in the Champions League earlier in the week, plus they were without Haaland. There probably won’t be a better time to play them. All very easy to say in hindsight, I know, but like I say, that was the best time to play them and we sat back.
Also think they might have carved us open if we'd gone for them from the off ... they sat back a bit after they went in front, which, together with fresh legs, allowed us to get a better foothold in the game ...
Wolves were able to carve us wide open by playing through the lines so I wouldn't fancy us trying to take Man City on in the same way. We don't have the same energy as Newcastle or Leeds to press and compete for 45 minutes let alone 90!
Another special goal from a very special player. Loved Tielemans interaction with the supporters at the end of the game. He probably will leave us but is a true professional. Now showing the form of a couple of years ago. The entire team were outstanding at Everton and I don't see how Evans can come back in if we keep this up. Maddison surely must go to the world cup after that performance and the club must do everything they can to get him to extend his contract.
