Villa are a much bigger club, with a rich history and most importantly **** loads of money behind them. Over the last 10 years only 8 clubs in Europe have a higher net spend than Villa which is crazy. If we have any crossover in managerial targets we lose, so hopefully their management hunt is about as forward thinking and fruitful as their recruitment has been.
In times past that might have been the case!! Fortunately not now and LFC will need to look elsewhere for Klopp's eventual replacement!!!!????
Apparently there are football writers out there that think Villa and Leeds are suffering from under investment. I wonder where he thinks we should be? Blimey.
The Leeds fans I know are all moaning because they spent nothing this summer. Saying owners are a joke and need to go. Think they spent about £100m (net spend of pretty much £0 admittedly)
I assume they glossed over the 150m spent in the previous to years with precisely zero coming in from sales. And yet apparently some of our fanbase think we should have massively elevated expectations from spending 50-60m without significant sales. Imagine if we'd been able to have a net spend of 150m over three years. Or even just the one season they had when they spent nearly 100m without incomings (I think it was their promotion but still)
They just see that as normal for a PL club that wants to compete, they aren’t wrong. I don’t know what most teams spend is over a similar period (net and gross) but I’d imagine on the gross chart they won’t be particularly high
Most spend (a lot) more than that. As in we'd need several windows like that in a row. There are outliers that perform very well (Brighton and Brentford. And even then Brentford would probably have gone down last season without Eriksen)
I’m glad it’s not just us being bitter and that everyone is laughing at Villa’s managerial delusions over Tuchel and Pochettino
I think that Gerrard was a poor fit for Villa. He should have stayed at Rangers and then maybe tried a Championsip team where he could have cut his teeth in English football. Gerrard had potential but I think this will do his reputation nothing but harm. Villa is not a club you go to as a manager is you are looking to build your reputation. It is a habitual disaster zone. He was too impatient for a top job in England,
I know what your saying but difficult to resist. PL club, plenty £, sorta sleeping semi giant …. understandable. Just went wrong. If only he had the staying power of our Ralph! #4 or 5 in the rankings! Who would have thought.
