I think the era of consensus politics might be on its way out. There's the potential for both major parties to split into smaller factions over the next few years. No more broad churches, everyone who doesn't think exactly like me is the enemy and there can be no compromise whatsoever.
*National Anthem plays* Bah gawd that's the King! With a steel chair! Everyone else has turned up.....
Motorcycle cops getting ready out the back. Someone's off to Buck House then. Hold on, is Charles in? That would be tremendous. 'sorry Liz he's not back til Monday'
The French one says her head's in the noose ... ... strange as they have a different system over there
So she resigns, they hold another leadership election and then what? Surely there has to be a general election?
Absolutely ludicrous. I'm expecting the new leader to call a General Election as soon as they're in. Penny Mordaunt surely the front runner.
Agreed. She hammered Starmer and the rest of the opposition at the Dispatch Box earlier this week. No matter who is elected, a GE should be held shortly.
Easy to do that when your own record isn't being challenged though. It's a question of whether those within her party who dislike her are now on the outside. She was the best option in the previous leadership election to be honest. I think they lose an election no matter what, but she'd be a strong opposition leader to regroup and come back at labour.
