Nunez and Fabio carvalho looked great last night.

not a great 2nd half for us but I wasn’t too worried

allison deserves a mention for his pen save too

defence still shakey which is a worry

really hope its nothing as he adds a directness to our play that disappears without him and / or Diaz .

Was just key to win really. Back to back clean sheets will give us much needed confidence, was disappointed with the last 15 minutes but not sure I agree with the entire second half being as bad as made out on here.

I’ve no doubt that we’ve signed a future star in Nunez tbh, he really does have the potential to tick all the boxes.

It involves a bit of hindsight, but imo they started the second half brighter than we did and we never really got going again. They gradually wrested control of the game.
I'm happy with the win given such a poor start to the season, but I'd hoped it would be more emphatic and signal a strong return to form.
    Still, small steps...

Nunez has the makings of a world class striker. Yes his first touch let’s him down a bit and yes his decision making is not perfect yet but he is going to be some striker when Jurgen polishes him up

This is his major weakness so far, but yes - this is something the coaching staff can sort out.
    He has great potential, imo.

he's still the big lump to me.

if anyone bothers to look back at transfer thread i made it quite clear this guy was the business when he were in for him so his running or shooting is no shock. I think people have been waiting for a big header just to show that as well but its all well advertised his how the destroyed our lot last season.

people need to see though that the type of run is as important as the finishing as he's leaving himself these narrow angles. theres just a huge amount of work

I don’t think it’s as huge as you say.

his finishing is excellent. Hitting the target and making the keeper work on his weaker foot. Sometimes you just can’t help how the ball comes to you. He’s already by far the best finisher we have imo. Salah (and Mane) miss a few and Salah has no right foot (comparatively).

He’s most often in the right place, give or take, this will be refined as he learns about the system and players around him.

his running on and off the ball is fantastic. He terrifies defences but he tracks back and presses aggressively….I really like this side of his game.

His awareness or final ball (for assists) looks like his weakest point….sometimes it’s ok to be greedy, sometimes it’s better to offer the easier ball like the other day when he should have passed to Salah. Again, this will improve imo as he learns more about where to expect his team mates to arrive….

His touch will also improve as his team mates figure out how to play the pass but it’s not as bad as I initially feared and the fact that he can hit the target with a volley pinged across his body more times than not, suggest that his touch won’t be a problem over the mid term.

in short, he is a potential superstar with a few slightly rough edges but a already one of the players that causes oppositions defences real problems. Perhaps he’ll never be as big as we all hope him to be but he is with the right coach and support that will stick with him because we all love his effort….that’s going to give him a fighting chance of achieving superstardom imo.

Fastest ever speed in premier league was a surprise. There is some talent, but he comes across like an idiot to me.

Thing is, he apparently gets thiago to translate everything as he can't speak English yet, and that's just not the same as getting instructions straight from the manager.

Until that improves there's always going to be some gaps in communication between what he's doing and what Klopp wants him to do.

Delighted with the three points, it was getting a bit nervy a bit too soon.

One thing of note, Trent was proper w@nk again. He is always square on when defending. At least four occasions yesterday where he just stood square and they just run past him.

Yeah - no need to be smart to play football - ask Wayne Rooney.
    Keep it simple though.

All the pre-season talk was about who would be the best buy, Haaland or Nunez.
Obviously Haaland has hit the ground running whereas Nunez has had a hesitant start, but there are things to look at beyond the goal stats.
Nunez's overall contribution is much higher than Haaland, who has relatively few involvements. Atm, most of his involvements end in a goal and that's a hard thing to dismiss, but I've said before I'm interested to see how coaches learn to deal with him as the season wears on, and how he responds to that.
Atm he's being given far too much space.
He's a proper handful, no doubt - but if teams find a way to close him down effectively then we might see the goal rush slow down a bit.
