I have been following keenly, it has since sprouted eyes, had a disco and then had a hangover cure in the morning.

Interesting article that claims that the Don’t Pay action group (the group asking for DDs to energy suppliers be cancelled) caused energy suppliers to lobby the government to intervene and limit the price increases. It also suggests that a similar approach for next April, when Hunt wants to review and weaken the support, might get a similar result.

Article in the Daily Telegraph, I repeat, the DAILY TELEGRAPH, calling for a General Election. They’re done.

    Decent article.

Country is absolutely ****ed. They won’t call an election. They will ignore the noise and line their own pockets as they always do.

Need some proper protests.. and they will be coming soon, when things get even worse for everyone. Matter of time.

Wasn’t that journalist a former guardian one? Forced out I believe

Although it is irrelevant as regardless of her leanings the Telegraph still published it

The only thing I can imagine forcing an election would be the loss of the majority. Which would take circa 40 lost by-elections from resignations, a similar number crossing the chamber or 80 odd going independent. All outlandish unfortunately

Surely if the energy bills go up as forecast in April with no support at all then the conservatives will be pretty much wiped out in local elections? Even if the PM is different by then

Next U-turn coming up, she`ll abolish the promised pension triple lock, so by alienating many of the 0.1% of the population that voted for her.

My pension has already dropped dramatically due to the bond market. My energy bills will no doubt be going up in the near future (and, yes, I’ve joined the “Don’t Pay” group - cancelled my DD with British Gas - received a carefully worded threat back that the “special rate” I was paying as I had a DD (they never mentioned that before) would be changing now ….. but I don’t care, I’m awaiting my printed invoice through the post ….)
and the cost of my weekly shop has gone through the roof ….
Now they’ll scrap the Triple Lock …. Bastards ….
But, you’ll still get crazy voters who think they’re “doing as good a job as they can and imagine what we would by like under a Labour government” (actual quote from a guy at my golf club)
I ****ing despair of this country …..
Maybe fuel up the motorhome, pick up a few choice not-606ers (you know who you are) and head off to see our friends on the continent in their little enclaves …. :emoticon-0103-cool:

I can’t stand the “imagine how much worse it would be under labour” argument. I’m going to go all Vernon Dursley here and not approve of imagination here (and you never go Vernon Dursley).

I mean how **** do you need it to get to not give someone else a chance? Especially when the ones in charge are getting worse and worse.

But even if we run with this imagination nonsense. What exactly do they think will happen? People freezing in their homes? Losing their homes? Children going hungry? Increased crime due to lack of police? Oh wait all of those are happening or could well happen soon

I really want people to start challenging these types by asking “how would it be worse? Please give examples”. Most likely some blather about rejoining the EU and higher taxes. I think most would take higher taxes if public services were improved and cost of living was ultimately lower

It’s shocking that they are going after pensioners now. Aren’t they the last solid bastion of conservative support ? The triple lock has always been pretty much priority one for this reason.

What else is there to vote for with them? “Not Labour” - is that really it? It won’t be enough surely
