Just had a look at table, we are 10 points off bottom and 7 points off the top after 15 games, this can't be normal, surely
i would like to see us all put the striker issue to bed if we can lads, please. yes it was a mistake to only have two (recognised strikers) at the club, one a loan but by all accounts broadhead, who we all would have welcomed back, pulled out of a deal at the last minute...now i am not claiming to know how the whole entire transfer business works, we all presume a club likes the look of a player so call his club to see if he is available or the owner club or agent will circulate word to say he is available and then he is asked if this club is for him/if he is interested in a move to the club...once these initial stages are clear then they would move onto personal details and medicals, i do not expect any transfer to go quiite as easily as there may be other bids, some big club might jump in and offer premier league or even champions league and far better wages plus a thousand other possible scenarios could crop up. i certainly would have liked to see at least one other recognised striker brought in but the questions we need to ask are, were there any decent ones available, was anyone interested in coming to the far north, would they be happy possibly playing 3rd or 4th choice...any decent striker is usually held onto like winnie the pooh holding onto a honey jar, and out of contract players are there usually for a very good reason and that is they just were not good enough to make the grade or getting on in years looking for a final 'swan' and song pay out. i try not to lay blame at anyones door as overall the recruitment has been spot on, some mistakes have been made but we also need to remember we have just been promoted and simply making sure we did not slip back into div 3 was priority and good enough for most of us this season, the fact we have done so damn well is giving us all a false sense of perspective at this point in the season
i honestly agree but i think that is my problem, he is doing 'ok' where i want to see him stamping his authority on games at times, embo is probably the opposite and can get a bit too carried away, they both have the ability i just feel they are running out of time to show it...and that would be sad.
People make mistakes. It's learning from them that's important. I can't comment on why we haven't signed another striker etc, but the main thing is we are moving in the right direction. Just for clarity, I can't comment because I haven't a clue rather than being itk and not being able too lol
Great post, I agree 100% I would have loved another couple of strikers in but we didn't do the business. I have always believed in life that you play the cards you are dealt and to be honest, Mowbray and the players are doing that and doing a great job out on the pitch
If I thought you were a politician, I'd say you were a die hard Speakman supporter... who praises his good things, some good recruitment and plays down his failures ie lack of striking alternatives. We still do not know what role Speakman played or didn't play in : Neil turning traitor and going to Stoke: Broadman not been landed, money? location? Most clubs have several strikers trying to copy Man City with our (goodish) players was never on. We can never know but with a 'Stewart ' up front might we have scored goals tonight?
not sure what you read in the post but i dont think i am praising anyone in particular...the recruitment in general has been good but mistakes have been made pretty much sums it up, another striker would not have guaranteed goals, a fit LND and simms would not have guaranteed goals, i just think it is a moot point and seeing the same arguments each week is pretty pointless.
No shame in being beaten by a (slightly) better side. We were well in the game and almost deserved a draw in my eyes. More good experience for the young lads.
Cheated, var and we don’t concede and Have a pen if mistake = demotion we’ll see this useless ****er at Thompson park before Xmas really frustrating but so much encouragement that we’ll be fighting for promotion within a year
I really wasn't impressed by Blackburn, just endless long diagonals and mass defence. And, how did Stoke get on at home to the mighty Rortherham ... ... I bet Neil has them flying by now
A stat that stands out for me is no goals from set-pieces, this season. Usually these goals are what teams can and do score from. What is going on in training! Where is Seb Larsson when you need him.
Haven't seen any news on Alese overnight, hopefully nothing serious for him. Still frustrated by the incompetent refereeing last night but can't wait for Saturday's game and the chance to put it behind us
