Penny Mordaunt was a magicians assistant so she's used to being on stage although she lacks the swimming costume and feathers at the moment ... shame.

I think a lot of that is quite accurate. Penny Mordaunt should have been the leader but she was stabbed in the back by Truss supporters in the leadership election.

Hunt is very experienced and came across excellently. The problem is that the better he looks, the worse it makes the pm look and like it or not, the media will focus on the leader of the country (and her absence) rather than other members of the party.

Mordaunt and Hunt is the kind of thing the Government needed after Johnson, to plug a few holes. Instead they are now trying to fix a wreckage.

    Ouch for Starmer

Labour want to hope Penny doesn't take Liz's job or Labour will be back struggling to win an election.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this is the tories testing out reactions to Mordaunt. It may be Truss is already gone, in the minds of the big players on the back benches, so they are starting early with an attempt to recover. Would we not otherwise expect the deputy PM to be front and centre? Staggering Truss hasnt turned up, unless she is away and it is damage limitation now whilst they get their ducks in a row.

Would you have done it while he was still in a position to sack you?

Mind it's lovely to be unsackable by your boss. I enjoyed every second of it after he stitched me up and I decided I was off.

He wouldn't be the one to sack me tbh, it wouldn't work like that where I'm employed. I did tell him I thought he was a dick though.

It is obvious that Dizzie Lizzie may still be in office but is no longer in power.
Much like an American President between the period of the November Election and ithe inauguration of his successor, she is a Lame Duck PM.
I can see no way back for her. She tried to move her Party, massively to the right. She got the votes she needed from the old codgers in The Shires but lost a majority of her Party's supporters along the way.

The problem that The Tory Party has now is what to do about her.
In the past, senior Party Members, The Elder Statesmen, would have 'had a quiet word' and the PM would resign with some dignity if possible.

But she has made such a mess of things I doubt that approach is on,
Perhaps she would be best served by being honest, (an unusual approach for any politician), and simply admit that the job was too big for her, that she wasn't up to the challenge and that she had better go before she does any more damage to The Country.

That the only way I can think of where she would get any aplause.

Hunt has admitted the government are at fault as U-Turn Truss and KK didn't ask for a OBR report. No credibility.

"Let's put a Penny in the dispatch box and see if she can fool enough people....

... if she does we can make her the PM for November."

20 JULY 2022 • 5:41PM Penny Mordaunt has been voted out of the Tory leadership race after receiving the lowest number of votes in the final MPs' ballot, sending Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss through to the final.

Won't be long. The reaper will be out and will be slashing all the public services once again. Predictable Tory garbage. Get this mob out. The lot of them.

Both sides to do that, pal.

I remember Tony Blair coming in and he went straight for privatisation and deregulation of the NHS.
