Levelling up seems to have become a split between the banks and the food banks....

Can l reminded you all that

We are entering the pantomime season, please credit the government for getting off to an early start.
The Pantomime has a dame plenty of villains and is holding secret ballots for a hero.

Ken Clarke: Liz Truss firing Kwasi Kwarteng is like a ventriloquist firing the dummy for saying the wrong thing.

But my g'kids are enjoying Pudsey Rickshaw going through the village, ie BBC raising money for children's charity... so no need for levelling up...

Another example of BBC bias. Where are their efforts to raise more money for the rich?

Questions in parliament do Labour no favours really. Jess Phillips there doing a right old song and dance routine. A complete lightweight treating it like It's not BGT man woman man.

    What's up with Liz then?

Ironic that one of the discarded leadership candidates looks ten times the leader that Truss does.

    Oh look, she's rocked up.

I was in the south of France, not doing a lot, and was asked to be a project manager on a huge property renovation. I really didn't have a clue what I was doing so I I walked around, in a hard hat with a clipboard, for three months writing things down and talking photos. They paid me a lot of money so I just talked to the workmen and fired off loads of emails with ambiguous questions.

One Monday I had to attend a meeting with all the contractors, the architect and the owners and was suddenly asked for a total update on the project ...

... that was exactly the look on my face <laugh>

They paid me off the following week ....

I am not normally one for discussing politics. It rarely ends well for me. I was watching the question and answer session today though and something struck me very plainly. The main conservative speakers had far more gravitas than the opposition ones, in my opinion anyway. Penny Mordaunt came across very well, and I thought turned Starmers attempt at humour squarely against him tremendously well. Then Jeremy Hunt was very calm whereas Rachel Reeves spent 10 minutes saying very little of anything new or smart, only for Hunt to seemingly make her statement seem a very lightweight when he responded.

Now none of this is really relevant in terms of political policy. What I do think is relevant though is the level to which you can demonstrate your communication and leadership qualities in the eyes of our media. I just wish an opposition party had a bit more about them. The conservatives have dropped the biggest political clanger in years these last 4 weeks. The Labour party have the biggest poll lead in 25 years, achieved without earning it. I fear politics is more about personality and communication skills these days. The conservatives have not done a bad job today on that front in my opinion and it will be interesting to see how our media play it. We might just have seen a glimpse of an upcoming leadership team.
