Now, I'm not naming any names but i had a private message requesting that i get the Derby match thread in ASAFP because, a certain old git has done two match threads this season and both have ended in defeats.... Plymouth and Lincoln. So in the best interest of our beloved football club, i just had to get in before you know who!!
Think this will be another defeat. I dont think we're as good as a lot are saying. I'd be tempted to put Keogh in, as he'll want to stick two fingers up at Derby for how they treated him. Will also start Edwards, for Harkness, who seems to have gone off the boil a little.
I am mildly anxious about next 12 days. We have 4 matches including the flipping pizza cup, and a team that is a bit unsettled. I enjoyed the 2nd half display but 33 shots on or near goal, and our strikers cant get a toe in. Tells its own tale. I share Spanish's optimism and now predict a 3-1 home win. A good game of 2 attack minded sides, and we get that all important goal in 1st half. Pompey go on a good run and begin their catchup. Gamechanger rumours of cheque book opening & signal the hunt for a big experienced striker in January.
A score draw on Friday night, I'll go for 2-2. It's the night before my wedding, so hopefully Town provide an early present and we get the three points. Following the Lincoln defeat, I do fear that teams are going to become much more effective at sitting back and weathering what we can throw at them. Edwards should be starting on Friday - with a sustained run in the team, he could be much more incisive than the likes of Harness and Chaplin.
