I have spent the last couple of months creating this website. http://keepf1freetoview.co.uk/index.html In the hope that it may help to stop sky getting F1, at the very least It will let the Teams, Sponsors, FOTA and the FOM know exactly how we the fans feel about the move towards pay per view formula one. The site will only have an impact if you all take part and use it to it's fullest extent, so I am asking that you not only participate but also spread the word by sharing it with any other forums you are members of and also with any social networking media you use. I appreciate and thank you for any support you can give.
Nice one Mephisto. I hope enough people are willing to make a stand on this. Any sensible, British follower of F1 should get involved.
Sadly I don't think it will have any effect. Football and rugby going to Sky hardly impacted the sports followings. I've just accepted that the days of getting my favourite sport for free are over unfortunately. :-(
A fine effort and I hope notice is taken, but unfortunately I don;t think the government will intervene as F1 is a global sport and there is little they can do to force it to be kept on terristrial TV in this country. I would think all they could do is insist the British GP is on free TV, much like they do with the Open Golf and Wimbledon.
Dude you have gone to town on that. Maybe a links section to petitions facebook groups news stories etc
I just love the sport and I'm not in a position to pay the amount of money that sky are asking, what else can I do but try? I will never bow down to capitalistic greed and the corrupt Murdoch empire. If that makes me wrong then so be it, I will just have to stand alone. It is not the bbc who can change this it is the teams and the sponsors and if you think that the UK doesn't have a major say in F1 then you are mistaken, because at the moment the UK is F1 central, but if this happens it wont be for much longer.
The links you mention already exist, top right of the home page and a link to a news page on the right hand side. Cheers.
Nice job Mephistopheles I have done hopeful tweets to Mark Webber, Dave Robson (Button's engineer), James Allen, Autosport, Ted Kravitz, Jenson Button, Anthony Davidson, Bruno Senna and Martin Brundle to RT the website. I doubt any of them will RT it but it is worth a shot.
The cost is not the problem for me; it's the principle. And, like you, I will have no part in furthering corruption, especially from someone who has probably had a greater hand in the downfall of this country than any other single person. Mephisto: you are not wrong; and you are not standing alone. I am with you all the way, and so are many, many others. Keep fighting. Even after it is lost - as it will be in the short-term - keep fighting for the long haul…
http://www.sportlemon.tv/ just in case, this is where i watch all of my sky sports stuff for free (im not paying £16 a month) you can watch football, F1, rugby, tennis the list goes on. please dont buy sky and use this instead, help to make a stand
Thanks for the link there Tribo! Annoyingly, I have heard talk that my shop is going to start selling sky boxes. Bit of a catch 22 - need to earn some dollar but want to keep some dignity!
