Agreed but Eddie was backed where he went. That’s why he’s there

… there’s no denying our pace dropped off in the second half. You seemed to be implying though that the solution was a new manager in to get them doing a few more press ups… or switch to 442… and we’ll be cushty. I’m saying there’s maybe a bit more too it than that. Just a difference of opinion fella.

I’m interested though how you’re reconciling your view on the squad with your view on the manager

We were in a relegation dog fight all last year, sell our two best players and buy a bunch of unproven punts from lesser European leagues) - the complaint from many was these signings were Jesse’s old boys,

We start the season in every neutral’s relegation conversation. Now you’re saying we look like we should have enough in the squad to be mid table. And the problem is just a lack of a good manager.

If these unproven marsch choices have us looking close to a midtable side… is that not maybe because of him - both choosing them and how he has them playing - rather than despite him? Or is it simply orta:genius, marsch:buffoon?

Genuinely Not picking a fight, just intrigued. You seem very sure the manager is rubbish - your prerogative - whilst thinking the team he manages looks good enough to be comfortably avoiding a relegation fight.

For the record, Jury still out for me on JM. We’ve played better football largely than I expected,.. over 90 mins only clearly been outplayed at Brighton. But like everyone, I’d have liked to see more points from the recent run of games and feel we might still be a soft touch.

to the tune of £200m+ since January

I like Eddie Howe and would have been very happy had we got him, but Leeds and Newcastle aren’t really a like for like comparison at the moment.

Were we Bournemouth fans, most on here would have considered him a busted flush and been baying for blood the year he took them down.

Squads not good enough simple as. Don’t matter who’s managing. My opinion and I’m sticking to it. Result of many poor or non existent transfer windows

I don’t know all the answers mate, if I did I’d be in a different job <ok>

I see Jesse talking a good talk but that’s where it stops.

I see us start decent and then I see the opposition coaches tweaking their style or squad to negate us.

I see Jesse reacting too late in games, we’re allowed 5 subs, use a few earlier if we’re playing at a pace that’s not sustainable.

I see a coach who played James out of position time and time again but he always got a game. I see him agree to loaning out a first team regular for someone who’s good enough for Italy but not good enough to replace Bamford

Gnonto might not be the answer but James would have been an ideal half time sub yesterday. If he was on the bench he would have came on, if Gnonto isn’t good enough don’t put him on the bench.

Watch when Sinisterra returns, Joffy will drop from the squad, Gnonto will still be on the bench, it makes no sense.

Maybe not all the blame should be Jesses I’ve no idea how he was budgeted for in regards to players or if he felt positions didn’t need looking at but Cooper isn’t PL quality. I was all for selling Llorente at the end of last season, he is truly awful when not injured. Firpo another, just injury after injury and of course Forshaw

When did we last sign a senior striker?. Roofe was never replaced and you can't count joffy. So just Bamford apart from a couple of loans.

You just gave the answers a lack of quality in key positions and for me that includes calamity cooper.

    Luciano Becchio 2008–2013
    Ross McCormack 2010–2014
    Chris Wood 2015–2017
    Kemar Roofe 2016-19
    Patrick Bamford 2018–present

No excuses that we’ve neglected the position far too long

But they’re not going to come anyway even if we could afford one with ebeneezer running the show. We can only attract up and coming hopefuls. We’re not a glamour club to top strikers but a stepping stone at best

some fair points bud. Truth is we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, it certainly didn’t sound like Jesse wanted to lose Dan James, and on others, who knows what is a public face/party line. He can’t say, ‘the squad is sh*t I don’t believe in them’ can he?

I just think, we’re emotive fans who watch a game, can usually see where it looks like it went wrong and then want someone to blame. Obvious choice is the manager, sometimes subs help change the flow, sometimes they don’t, yesterday they didn’t. The buck does stop with managers obviously but the margins between success and failure are very fine. Bamford scores yesterday and it’s likely we win and sit top half…. The difference between Jesse ‘doing a great job’ and being sh*t.

Agree on the striker. It’s also the type of forward. If we’re playing quick balls forward all the time we need someone the ball will stick to. But in our system they also need to be mobile enough to lead the press. Strong , mobile, scores a few. Not many around. You can see why they wanted gakpo.

Bamford is a soft pussy, he should had held that defender away from him and slotted that chance for 2-0, game over.

Willy hasn't scored true. But his passing is good and his running at opposition is good. He brings on fouls. Why not give him ago.

I'm not saying Gnonto shouldn't play at all. Just offering a potential reason why Gelhardt was used before him on Sunday. Gelhardt was outstanding at Tranmere and was put on due to his mid-week performance which is fine by me.

This says it all for me…..

I want to know why the team stopped playing in the 2nd half, did heads drop.

Marsch pulled of a tactical masterstroke early in the season where every substitution worked. Klich ran the middle and was praised by the media etc. Marsch seems to think he can just swap some players and all will be good, but thats crap and yesterday showed me he doesnt have a clue. Aaronson best player on the park subbed off. Harrison had another shocker and should have been swapped when they scored. Bamford shouldnt have started and Rodrigo may have scored but we wasted an hour before taking him off, Cooper shocking, Kristensen best game but subbed. Gnonto should have started with Aaronson at 10 & Rodrigo at 9. Harrison should have been subbed for Summerville early on with him and Summerville swapping sides but its all immaterial now points lost, bad bad day

    Just to add….

I don’t believe Jesse is a total liability, he’s not 100% bad, he does a few things I like. I just think the jump in class required to manage a PL team is a step too far for him
