Nicola Sturgeon says she 'detests the Tories and everything they stand for'. What's wrong with that?
Does that mean she leads a nationalist socialist party?

Pointless hate speech, attacking the name not the content. Provided a lovely diversion from what is actually happening, with a stupid generalisation.

Isn't 'everything they stand for' attacking the content?

It’s a stupid generalisation. Like this - ****ing nationalists of all types stink.

“We will build a Britain in which everyone has the opportunity to make the most of their talents. We will ensure that work will always pay. We will create a fair society, in which everyone always contributes their fair share.”

Sturgeon apparently detests that, it’s from the 2019 Tory manifesto. You might not believe that the Tories can deliver it, fair enough, you might believe other ‘values’ will take precedence, fair enough, but if you ‘detest’ that sentiment an explanation would be nice.

I was quoting Sturgeon, not necessarily expressing my own view (although I wouldn't demur). Of course, that statement is not at all detestable. What they do in practice is detestable, I would say. Particularly this current iteration.

I don't know enough about the Ukraine-Russia war, so happy to be educated by those who have followed it more closely, but my gut tells me that as soon as Ukraine starts attacking Crimea, things could escalate.

Ukraine have managed to cross Putins' line in the sand regarding Crimea, and really pissed him off.by attacking his bridge that links Crimea to Russia....

  1. Russia has carried out missile strikes on cities across Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv, in what appears to be the most widespread set of attacks since the early weeks of the war
  2. Missiles have hit central Kyiv, as the capital is targeted for the first time in months. At least eight people have been killed in just one district
  3. Ukraine's commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny says Russia has fired 75 missiles at targets in Ukraine so far and that the attacks are ongoing
  4. The wave of strikes comes two days after the only bridge linking Russia with occupied Crimea was damaged in a blast
  5. Russian President Vladimir Putin has blamed Ukrainian intelligence, though Kyiv has not acknowledged any role in the explosion

It was a generic ‘you’ rather than aimed at you specifically Strolls.

From where I sit just because Strugeon doesn’t like the Tories doesn’t make her right, competent or likeable.

I’m sure the Ukrainians were expecting it Steels. Putin is a spiteful and deranged leader who seems to be slowly losing his grip (on his popularity, his mind and the war). I imagine he’s using up valuable missile resources if you believe what the military experts tell us.

Talk of more sanctions and support from Europe already. With winter coming I imagine a push at the Russians and their supply lines will continue to bite.

Yes, they were expecting some repercussions for the bridge attack, but landing missiles in main thoroughfares during rush hour is pretty ****ing mean, even by Putins standards! He's appointed some psycho general to run the campaign now - one can only guess at the reasons as to why he wasn't utilised before now....

If you've campaigned against fracking, that's fine, we live in a democracy.
If you've campaigned against nuclear power, that's fine, we live in a democracy,
but please don't start complaining about this now because you're part of the problem.
