Nothing against giving Daws a go if results are good but it does make the decision to let Grant go just as we'd started performing look shocking. The fella has his flaws but the players were running through walls for him.
Is he not still at Bala Town? That must have been in the very early stages as Welsh teams are usually shat on in the first round.
Fair enough. Perhaps the term dream team was a tad ambitious. However, honestly think it would work out, for reasons explained. For why it won't happen refer to my previous entry.
I’d happily have a backroom setup of daws, barmby, Rosie etc. i still think ash should be involved in the club somewhere
I'd disagree. As much as I'd love to see those players back involved at City, it just wouldn't work as a backroom. Martins was right in wanting to bring his team of 4 with him, like Silva did. It was a mistake to bring Shota in without a team he knew, trusted and who knew him and his ways of working etc. A manager needs free choice to bring in the right backroom to suit him (or, I better add her I guess!). However, maybe having Daws as manager and the others as his backroom staff might work, but, as much as 'my heart' might like the idea, 'my head' tells me it's a ridiculous thought.
Farenough, it was only an idea as I said I didn’t think they’d work as a management team. Ok I’d like to see some of them who still live local involved in the club in some capacity
Interesting. Is Martins success down to having complete control of the club from a playing perspective with a hands-off in the background owner? Acun will never be that type of owner. Just cannot get my head around why a potential manager would fly in, have social media mugshot with owner, sit by the side of the owner and watch the team play a game, followed by refusing the gig. Where lay the demarcation line that neither could cross?
Grant. He can't get a tune out of pish or get them out of second gear. Not beating, no hopers, Burton, at home, must be a sackable offence. Though I'll cut him some slack, he did lose Szmodics.
Similar thoughts. The cynical side of me suggests he’s now fully in the vacant managerial window here in the UK. The football side hopes we score first today and anymore news about Martins quickly becomes is chip paper. No offence intended.
