That's my take on it as well. Yes it will hurt when the first couple leave, but if them leaving means we strengthen the squad and facilities then its all good.

Who knows we might progress enough that the sought after players give us an extra season as they can see where we are going and want to stay and be part of it? Unlikely i know as money dictates but the odd one may surprise us.

As others have said, it's far better than watching a team of plodders here for a last pay day or going though the motions

I do Bob, anything is preferable to the way we have managed our finances in the past.

Personal opinion but I don’t think KLD or JS would be out there for scouting reasons, there’s also a photo with KLD and the apparent head of the Argentinian FA both holding a Sunderland top

I think for now it is the best thing for the club to increase its financial clout and build up it sustainability and increase the turnover of cash for FFP but there will come a point where you have to flip that around a start to be the club that looks to be the driving force in deals and not the club selling, that though may well be a few seasons down the line. Leicester are an example of this as they are now struggling to hold onto stars and are finding the transition from selling club to being one of the top clubs a difficult transition

Bad luck or bad planning, our recruitment team have done some really god work overall. Was not bringing in a striker when LND injury was confirmed a bad decision or were we unfortunate to loose Sims so soon later.
I think to lose both our front men in such a short period was just very bad luck.
    **** happens.

Leicester were interesting to watch when they won the title. Not even that, or Champions League football, could keep players there. They knew that, in reality, it was all downhill from there. The club had to substantially increase wages for the whole squad including the likes of Vardy, Evans, etc. Replacing the outgoing stars without more huge oitlay was difficult/impossible and the spirit/balance of the team was lost.

We keep seeing clubs, such as Southampton for example, that are supposed to have a conveyor belt of new talent to replace the departing stars. Unfortunately it only takes a season or two when the club doesn't produce the right players and it starts to falter. A bad start to the next season and panic sets it, managers are sacked and relegation beckons.

I took quite some stick when Wolves were flying but I could see cracks appearing. That's not because I'm a visionary, it's just a fact that most of the PL will be relegated at some point, the big clubs have it all stitched up, Everton, Newcastle, etc are just dreaming if they think they can win the title, even Man Utd are years away from any credible challenge.
