Of people not swimming in it as 9.30 and it shut at 9.00. Still very warm and peaceful here. That can change if/when we score.
Maybe the bit of fortune needed to give us a kick start. And I get a correct result in the prediction league.
Only a correct result, not a correct score. Didn't get the scorer either. I'll take anything I can get though.
That was an excellent performance Thought it was going to be one of those nights but thankfully Hudson saw sense and took off the 2 poorest players we had - Ojo & Sawyers. The sooner Colwill is fit the better. Another night and we win that 2-3 nil but for once got lucky with the ref who arguably should have let play go on. Some of our play from defence through midfield was excellent just again the final delivery let them down, and not enough bodies pouring into the box. Thoroughly deserved 3 points
Sawyers and Ojo were both dreadfull. They were so slow moving the ball and themselves around the pitch it gave Blackburn time to reset. Rhino arguably has less skills than both but puts in twice the effort. When Ralls came on the intensity of the game in the middle of the park had a huge boost and Harris was explosive - that was a great (if obvious) shout by Hudson. As bad as those two were, Kipre was magnificent throughout the game and Ng did a great job at RB even if he was nowhere the attacking threat that Romeo offers. On the other side, Knouknou is a scary animal to the opposition but also the City fans watching - he's wild but gets you off your seat.. O'Dowda is classy but his replacement Filofax looks raw - he had a glorious chance with a 2 on 2 situation, panicked and shot tamely from too far out instead of driving into the box - lot to learn yet. Robinson could have got 4 last night - hope he gets his finishing boots on soon because he has the vision and skills to do it. Great result though and thoroughly deserved although having to wait until the last 10 minutes for a goal was annoying - we should have been comfortable by then and not needed Allsop's penalty save to keep all three points.
Stat Pack Had to pull up Robbo's stats today as I got the impression last night that he never stopped running and took up some really good, intelligent positions. With slightly better finishing or a little more good fortune he could have had a hat-trick. 100% passing accuracy and 45 touches!! With the exception of Romeo (let's hope his injury isn't too bad) and Rinomhota, every other starting outfield player had passing accuracy of 80% or above. That's pretty impressive in my book. I thought Kipre was an absolute colossus again last night and even Nkounkou, after one or two dicey moments had a really solid game. Ng was his ever dependable self and Wintle was tidy. Rinomhota, despite a few loose passes worked his socks off and put in a few crunching tackles (as did a few others to be fair). The only disappointments really were Ojo was again a little hit and miss, especially with his decision making/runs and likewise I felt Sawyers could have been better. It was certainly no surprise to see those two as the ones to get hooked first. Yes we got "lucky" with the penalty save right at the death, and Szmodics shooting tamely at Allsop when clean through was a let off, but had we won that 5-1 or 5-2 I don't think Blackburn could have complained. It very much had a similar feel to the Birmingham game for me, with us being much the better team but not having that killer finish/touch again... but we are still getting there slowly. The others slight let down was the crowd. Not so much the attendance (mid-week, on Sky, grotty weather and tough times) but the atmosphere in general felt really flat despite the team putting in a good shift pretty much throughout... polite applause etc. but no real backing for the team until the last 20 minutes or so when things started to "hot up" and a few more tackles were flying. That was a real shame as I felt the team deserved better. Oh and rumour has it that Ledley was in the directors box / exec area last night too.
