Mate, are you going to constantly go on about recruitment after every draw or defeat? It's getting pretty tedious to be honest
Exactly. Prehab loves having a go at the recruitment that took us out of league 1 and to 7th in the championship. We have so much talent at the club, such an exciting time to be a sunderland fan
When the issue is we are not scoring and we didn't recurit a striker then yes , it will be mentioned. Rightly so.
You honestly used to be one of my favourite posters but your negativity towards our recruitment team is getting beyond a joke now. We are sitting 7th in the championship after being in L1 for 4 yrs and you keep having a go the min we have a bad result. Yet when we have a good result you never moan about the recruitment
Stopped getting forward when Bennett came on a joke, sidewards backwards again, 3 free kicks wasted, wheres mcGeady when you need him? another team needing a result get one as well. we are losing the plot fast.
Maybe we could try Clarke inside with Amad and Benny out wide at home, at least give it a try, until we get a more orthodox 9 sorted. I think our more experienced players Pritch Gooch Roberts and Evans all had poor games tonight and the new faces panicked a bit. Still believe we will play better away in the first half of this season and our home form will improve over time, If so a top half finish is well within reach and that will make it a good season. OaU
You are mistaken. We have done great in certain areas but we have failed in the recruitment. It's ok to be critical you know. It's an error and lots know it internally. It's ok. We all want it to be great and so far it's going really well. But it's an opportunity missed.
Show me a club that has 100% recruitment success? You can be frustrated at not getting a 3rd striker and still give some credit where it's due. Writing off all of our recruitment with a blanket comment like "we didn't recruit effectively" just isn't accurate at all.
We did try for a 3rd striker - Broadhead. Wanting one, and getting one that is good enough is often a tough ask. Broadhead would have been brilliant here this season. Few points from me. The young lads from oversees look technically very good, but they clearly lack game awareness, particularly Ba. When he first came on he made us look very disjointed I thought. Still dont know where he was playing, my guess is we went 4141, which was really odd. Michut looks tidy and Bennette has a bit of the unpredictable along with his pace. All look to have a chance, but we will need to be patient. I dont see Pritch and Embo in the same side. They want the same spaces. Embo playing deep doesnt really work for me as we lose control of the middle part of the pitch too easily. Diallo remains a mystery to me. He has a fantastic first touch, and he has lightening pace. I just never feel he has a plan in his head of what he is doing next. I couldnt tell you what his best position is really. Another with raw talent, but seems to need to learn how to use it in a game. Baath is quality, so calm. ONien is a madman, but a good one. Alese is a player. Evans is massive for us. Tonight I just thought we lacked calmness and patience. It was all too rushed and a hundred miles an hour. Neil has to play for me, he just keeps things ticking over, always available and plays that simple role so well, but knows when to spring that attack with the pass. Him and Evans are great together. Cirkin the same, he is another that is so calm all game and is always available to play. One of the best players we have. They both do the simple things so well, and almost under the radar, but when they are not there you notice it. Might sound negative but I am still very motivated by this team and squad. The sky is the limit for them and I am still looking at a play off spot personally. We have the best centre forward in the division to come back. We are on an upward curve.
Last time I checked it's a team game and more than the strikers are allowed to score. We are all aware you don't like Speakman and aren't happy with the recruitment
Neither did half the Championship mate. Not every player is desperate to come to the NE and play second fiddle to an undroppable centre forward. The club is recruiting well in the opinion of most people I know.
How have we failed on recruitment? We are a newly promted team who sit 7th in the league and have only lost 3 games so far. We have so much talent at our club now and very little, if any, deadwood. I agree the last 2 games have been a missed opportunity but thats football
After the 1st half I was thinking get Diallo off and Bennette on and go at them with pace, we kept backing off though and credit to Blackpool they gave it a go. I’ll get pelters for this but TM took too much experience off and put too many kids on. I wanted to see Diallo given a chance but he was way off the standard required tonight, he takes too many touches. We will be fine once we get a striker on the pitch
Managers make substitutions and hope they'll work ... ... if they were sure they'd work they would play that team from the start. There's only 90 minutes and they soon tick away ... ... especially when the referee isn't fit to step on a football pitch.
We have failed because at the time when the window was open , we were playing 2 up front. If you are true to your name then you'll know there was a big worry and big pick to get additional strikers into the club due the risk this posed. It was Speakmans call to say we don't need that and we can sign wingers to infill. That didn't take into account both players getting injrued. He should have done that. That is where were are now. I am proud of this club and it's young players but I will call out absolutely insane calls that leave us without any striker for months on end. You must concede that?
