We have made some class signings, no arguing there but we are desperately short. 2 strikers is nowhere near enough for a championship team
For all the talk of a striker, we were troubled at the base of our midfield, down the flanks and on crosses tonight. It wasn't the best game all round.
We can debate all night. I think its obvious really not having a natural striker on the pitch is costing us massively and it will continue till after the World cup. It's a shame because we could have smashed this league.
But we can’t just go and sign any random striker, blackpool started with 3 today and I’d maybe take yates at a push.
Most championship sides will have 2 main strikers then different options to play upfront like we do. Its just unlucky that both our strikers got injured in the space of a week. If we signed a 3rd striker and they got injured folk would be moaning that we didnt sign a 4th striker
On the bus on the way home, another disappointing point. It just isn't clicking up top and the little moves aren't coming off. I'm not going to lose my **** over 2 draws against solid championship sides
sorry mate had a cracking link but had to keep the wife happy with an errand to Tees side only got the last 7 mins myself
Even game but disappointing that we let them back into it in the second half. Small margins - the ref played advantage a lot BUT not at the vital moment. The save from Clarke... - it could have been a hard fought victory
I'm not disagreeing with this at all btw. I actually think away from home we will be fine as teams will push higher and attack us so our wingers will have more space to exploit - I do worry at home as teams will sit deep and narrow as they know we dont have a physical presence upfront. I just get annoyed when folk say we should have a signed another striker - I'm sure if there was a quality option available they would have - no point signing someone just for the sake of it though. We did that for yrs and we know how that ended up. Anyway off to bed in a huff after that result - enjoy your night gents and fingers crossed for 3 points on saturday
Credit to Blackpool, they dealt with us all game and made it look easy. Very organised team and could easily have nicked it, as could we of course. On another day we get a goal in the first half and space opens up, we weren't given enough time and space on the ball for our nippy players to damage them. I'm not too unhappy with the point, we gave it a good go.
That may be true but most half decent strikers will keep either one or both centre halves occupied, which frees up the wingers. We have nobody who can do that. People will argue all night on this subject but the last two games show we needed backup for Simms and Stewart, not even backup really but more a rotation option for a long season. We have about 400 wingers, good ones at that. But they’re not centre forwards which is a completely different skill set.
Thought we were very good first half. 2nd half was not great but not terrible, either. Love watching this team. We didn't lose. I'll take it.
Starting to wish we'd started the season badly. Maybe that way people wouldn't be so negative all the time when we don't win. Yes, it's a shame we don't have another big centre forward, but ****ing hell, the way we play when it clicks is fantastic. It's a very young team they're putting together, and let's face it nobody really expected us to be challenging before the season began. Gutted not to get a win, but there's so many positives at the club at the moment it's a massive pity so many folk are still going on about the striker situation. It's done, let's get behind the club and enjoy it - we've been **** for so long, why mope about it?
In all honesty though, their defence stopped so the outcome may have been slightly different. Agree that the advantage should have been played however.
Because we could have been easily fixed it. The young players have been brilliant. Feels like an opportunity missed due to poor decision making.
