It was ridiculous. I thought the rules were that persistent fouling by the same player is a yellow and also persistent fouling of the same player is also a yellow. Any shirt pulling is an automatic yellow. They should have had 2 sent off in the first half but the ref was a clown.

I said it in league 1, the club should be all over this stuff writing to the FA and saying if refs aren't up to the job in front of 40k they need to sort it out.

Ref was poor and a point is not the end of the world but I'm getting fed up of both Pritch and Embo. Need more from both of them but not sure that they have the athleticism for this league.

    L09 POST PNE

Luke O’Nien was positive following the draw against Preston today, despite struggling to score Luke praised his fellow teammates for their efforts to keep the clean sheet to claim a point. #SAFC

    GOOD POINT
“Do you know what I think we’ve gotta give our four players a base and get a clean sheet, it was a good start having that base and a clean sheet. I feel like we created the chances it just didn't quite go in for us. Good point against a team that haven't conceded many so we couldn't quite break them down but we'll look back on that and see how we can improve and attack Tuesday.”

    TWO CLEARANCES
“Oh Aji was magic today, I think since he's come into the team he's been different class. Gooch has been brilliant all season as well. We needed those two clearances and they’ve done their jobs.”

    BACK IN CENTRE-BACK
“Loving it, I've got great people around me. When you’ve got got DB on my left, Gooch on my right and Pat behind it makes life easy for me so I’ve just got to concentrate and give it to our forward players as quickly as I can so I'm enjoying the role.”

    PLAN
“Yeah, rest and recover tomorrow. Some boys will train and some will rest and all attention towards Tuesday, looking forward to it.”

Well it's all been said really. We have some very talented players but could have done with a striker today. They couldn't handle Clarke so pulled him over every time he had the ball. Our subs are fantastic players and will soon displace others. Alese is a class act. Preston would fit in very well in League One with their non-football approach. Credit to the number of their fans for turning up but quit the "is this a library" ****e.Baath was excellent - stops everything. Gooch was generally great but always has a mistake in him. Patto's shot stopping is top notch. Pleased with the performance, can't complain - we will only get better and will finish in the top six.

agreed, see my earlier post, i also had alese MotM.

who the hell can TM drop though?...not a single player has really put a foot wrong since coming into the team or changing positions, alese has had at least two man of the match games, batth is turning into a brick wall, onien (barring his unfortunate OG) has been getting stuck into everything and is the original 'body on the line'...then we have the new lads full of energy and forward movement, no fear and plenty of skill on show, calm as can be it can only be a matter of time that they are pushing for a starting place and we have yet to see michu.

TM is going to be on the aspirins soon like, plenty headaches coming up for him.

We are short though. We are literally playing with embo up front and it's not good enough is it ? That shouldn't happen.

We could have definitely done with a striker yesterday. We're short which is a slight problem but not a total disaster.

I can see how Amad could be seen as a false nine in the front line but it hasn't clicked into place yet. I actually think Dejaku is more of a forward than a winger but he's not been good enough so far.

I still make it 7 great signings (and Michut to possibly make 8) v 1 bad decision. Every club in world football would be happy with that success rate by their recruitment team.

Depends , you're being generous saying all the other signings are great. It's far to early to say that. Some havnt even played 90mins yet.

Leaving us without a single striker is rank and it's detrimental. I feel we would have won yday with one, possession dominant but toothless.

BA will be the best signing IMO.

I go along with the way of thinking that we plan to play one big lad in the middle, both Stewart and Simms getting injured was simply really bad luck, and it's likely that if we had signed a third he'd not be very good.

What if we did have another player like Simms and he also got injured, would that still be bad recruitment? It looks like Amad can be the focal point to me even though we'll still miss the physical presence.

@Chunksafc do you feel we are resourced sufficiently in the striker position ?

We were playing 2 up front and have done all season. Having zero back up to those 2 is poor. We have only switched due to injury. You can plan with your 1 up top but facts are we have played 2 in ever game until injury.

If we were recruiting to play a one striker formation which is what has been reported, it is very difficult to find a player who is right for the club while also being ok with being 3rd choice. If it was as simple as just playing any striker then surely TM would play Thompson. Preston had 3 different players play the striker positions yesterday and all three looked awful so its not a simple situation

Not a chance for me. Cirken is far more comfortable on the ball. Movement is superb and rips the ball quicker. Doesn't need the extra touches. I like Alese but I would like him more of a left CB staying. Cirken gives us that massively presence down the flank going forward. Makes Clarke look better for it.

We have been playing with 2 up front all season mate. Don't need reports. We have literally been playing with 2 strikers.

I am being generous, that's fair. Some could turn out to be poor but it's not looking that way.

Likewise though, you're being harsh by matter of factly saying it's 'detrimental'. In our 3 games without a striker, we've picked up 5 points and scored 5 goals. That's a better return than the 3 games prior to it.

It's not perfect, but it's a single mistake in our recruitment, not the headline feature of it.

So why isn’t TM just throwing in a u23 if it is as simple as just playing anyone up top and we’d win?

We have 2 strikers that are injured , then Armand and Jewi who can play up front and probably will as the season progresses.

We stumbled across playing 2 up top when it's clear we are more suited to 1 up top and more wide attacking positions, so not sure how many out and out forwards you expect us to have.
