Seemingly last night was so bad that no-one can be arsed to post the man of the match thread, or no-one actually saw the game? So I will having had the misfortune to be there. I actually had a spare ticket last night and I could not give it away for nothing before the game. Sums us up really. MOTM. 1. Elder 2. Coyle (at least he gave 100%) 3. Slater, unlucky with his shot that deflected onto the bar, theirs ended up in the net, ours bounced out, fine margins, but that's football when your luck is out. I thought Tufan took the piss in the first half along with Longman, I doubt if they touched the ball more than six times between them. Saw Tufan win one tackle all night. Never saw Longman win any. Better second half and I was impressed with Christie. Seri looked half decent when he came on but it's pointless having a player who can pick a pass out if you have nothing up front to pass too. 'Houston, we have a problem'.........Roll on Wednesday
Can't disagree with any of that UP. Thought Coyle tried, but not good enough at this level which goes for most of them As for Motm. Its a stab in the dark. 1. Elder 2. Seri 3. Greaves Shout out for Sinik who showed a couple of flashes. Maybe should have emerged at h/t, but maybe that's clutching at straws.
As usual this thread is. more about who wouldn't appear on the list. Elder (I cannot understand why most of what we did second half came down the right) Docherty for endeavour and desire to impress when he came on As has been said, liked the look of Sinik as he didnt look to pass backwards..
In no particular order and only because they looked like they cared, Coyle Slater Elder & honourable mentions for Docherty and Sinik Slightly off topic but was thinking during last night's game. As long as I've supported City (well over 40 years), they've always had the uncanny ability to make the opposition look like they've got an extra man. We always seem to be short of options when in possession and, out of possession, the other team seem to have so much more room and space. Always an easy pass for them.
Elder- Looked the best attacking option, & looked like one of a few who gave a ****. Slater- Made things happen, actually passed forward, great shot that hit the bar, but without the deflection, I think the keeper would have it anyway. Coyle- Looked decent going forward. WTF is wrong with Greaves, he’s always a pulled shirt, or in last nights case, pulled arm, from giving away a penalty.
Thought Christie and Docherty did nowt wrong when they came on and Seri and Sinik showed some nice touches but discounting them from MOTM choices it's all looking a bit threadbare. Oscar did little wrong but the service to him was woeful again. Pelkas is starting to look like Marcus Forss only without the effort and workrate. Tufan was a huffin' and a puffin' to little effect. Jones and Greaves are currently shot confidence wise. Longman, Woods and Baxter offered little of note. So almost by default it's; Elder (effort) Slater (some endeavour and creativity ( not a lot, but some)). Coyle (although how he starts infront of Christie is a mystery).
Coyle for effort and clearly giving a **** and for weathering the abuse from the folk around me for not being good enough Slater for that nearly goal. Doc. Closest thing we have to the Honeymonster and should be in the starting line up.
This whole Coyle isn’t good enough is a mystery to me, yes he’s not great, but there’s 2 parts to his game, his attacking side, along with Elder is better than the actual attacking players at the moment, he gets back to defend, has moments that costs us, but overall, is no where near as bad as people make him out to be. He’s currently the favourite to have a go at when things are going wrong, yet if he left, there’d be cries of, oh how we miss Coyle. It’s the age old, don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.
