MOWBRAY BACKS MICHUT

Tony Mowbray has spoken about French starlet Edouard Michut, who has suffered with injuries since signing and was sent off in a recent Under-21 game.

HARSH RED
"He needs some encouragement and the opportunity to play. I think he was very harshly dealt with in the U21s game, to be honest, if you saw some of the tackles that went on in that match."

NATURAL TALENT
"He's only a young boy but he is very, very talented, he is very focused. He feels ready to play and I hope that when his opportunity comes, the fans see this player who has two lovely feet, great balance, and who looks forward with his passes. He's a player that I like."

PHYSICALITY
"Is he ready for the physicality of the league? Is he ready that the ref doesn't blow his whistle if someone grabs him round the throat and drags him back, and play goes on instead? There was a bit of that going on the other night in the U21s."

ACCLIMATISE
"It was an eye-opener for him, but he will acclimatise to it because he is a bright kid and you'll see his talent come out on top in the end, whether that is short-term or long-term, because he is a very good player."

Do you think he'll be on the bench tomorrow?

Not too surprised to read this. His experience in french football will have very minimal physicality. If he is a technical lad he is going to have to add a bit to his game to roll with the physical stuff. I remember the likes of Djorkaeff, as a seasoned player, needing time. I would always prefer to teach a technical player how to cope with the physicality, rather than the other way round. No reason to believe we havent scouted a future start, we just need to be patient. Plus I cant see any player in our 11 being dropped for him just now, their form is so good. Hopefully everyone is patient with him, if he makes 15 appearances this season it will havr been a big step up for him.

All I'm seeing is januzai (sp) II... he hasn't even kicked a ball yet so I'll retire to bed picked

I agree with you on all of that, I'd much rather have players with obvious skill and talent and them adapt to the physical side.

With all the young ones we have brought in, patience is the key as they will have dips in form and confidence and we have to support them through the lows as much as celebrate the highs
