or you might as well say

400k or 350k (whatever the number is at his level) is equal between city and cheslea and this choice applies. Transfer money is equal. daddy's pay is equal s o then who does he choose?

cos i can say 100% the wage at LFC will not be 400-350k nor will the pay to daddy be equal. so you are kind of expecting him to make a call that actually he will turn down nearly 40million to come to LFC as we would pay about 200k starting off compared to what city paid haaland. 40mil over 5 years less pay to join lfc.

    Bellingham to chelsea :)

I'm sure he'd survive on 200k per week.

That's not what you'd be asking him though.

Us fans would be looking at him and saying forego 40million and come kick about for us. You'll be the hero here.

Examples where this approach has worked.

    ......

Examples where this has not worked.

    Salah (we caved)
    Mane . Left.
    Wijnaludm. Left.
    Coutinho. Left.
    Sterling. Left.
Any amount of dodgy links that ended up at Chelsea.

The going rate is the going rate and the player can get 350k a week here.

If he starts every England game and is the only player coming out with some credit then he's going to probably get it.

Yeah but there were other factors in all those as well, and maybe Nunez for the first list?

Anyway, that wasn't really my point. My point Was that if Bellingham isn't purely money-motivated, then I'd be sceptical of Chelsea right now. The New owner is still learning the ropes, Potter is untested at this level and Chelsea don't have a great record of developing first-teamers (excepting James and Mount, though both developed more on loan). As I said, that could look very different im the summer, or even January. And if someone like City came in, with more stability and better development opportunity to go with the mountains of cash, then unless he has a particular affiliation with Liverpool (maybe this one really did support us growing up?), then no, I don't think we'd stand a chance with him at 200k pw.

Who offered nunez more wages than us?

I dunno really who this lad supported or what he wants but in the cold light of ambition to deliver the biggest career expecting anyone to leave 40mil on the table to go play for the side who don't invest enough to keep up consistently doesn't seem to wise to me.

City are city yes but I can't fathom the summer they had. It all looks "ok" but there are cracks that silva and debruyne can't paper over. Their lack of spend was perhaps strategic to look the part but we will see.

Chelsea are utterly ridiculous but if they are the big offer on the table player shave to take it while it's there. The list is near endless on the players they have thrown cash at.

Bellingham is 19, he's looking at developing himself not getting a monumental transfer package while he's still a teenager. I could be wrong but everything about how his dad is handling him and his brother so far points to common sense not greed. If as you suggest he goes to Chelsea on 400k, stays there a couple of years - because they won't be winning enough for him to stay - with 15 years of a career (possibly) still to go, he will be playing for £1m a week in no time, if you presume every move will be about more money.

    He's not that good.

1mil a week is psg territory to keep mbappe in an exercise in pure ego.

500k is still the very top of the money and what lunatics pay aging stars like ronaldo, messi and the like in more ego.

This kid as you say is not even on the haaland hype scale and yes there's a large difference in the strategic approach each camp has taken BUT nobody is sitting down and saying hmmm that 400k is a nice offer but it might not suit me in 4 years time. They sit down and think they are a cl player already and ready to move up so if 400k is on the table or 350k... again it'd 40million less over 5 years. 40mil.

The whole package is going to be massive but only 2 or 3 times in his career if it goes really well. 19, 24, 28/29.

I have to admit that I want this lad to be different in his approach to his career and so I'm willing it to be so. How refreshing would it be to see him turn down mega money to come to us for all the right reasons?

Let's be clear - he'd still be on mega money here, just a different shade of mega money.

Would it be impossible for him to go to a club for "all the right reasons" and money?

Man U were were supposed to also be interested in Nunez and would probably have offered more. Don't know how true that is though.

I think there's a case to be made to look at players like Barkley, or even Havertz, Werner, Pulisic etc. and be cautious. If nothing else, come to Liverpool, develop, and in three of four years move to Barca or PSG for extortianate wages.

What exactly are "the right reasons" ?
Go to Chelsea (or City) and you are joining a club with top end managers, good players around you and a team that are likely to be competing in the CL most years.
Apart from them paying you good wages what are the bad (wrong) reasons?
