Because that’s his natural position and the position he tore teams a new one in Turkey. Sticking him at wingback would be madness. He’s pretty quick, I can’t see many in that Luton squad being able to catch him.
"Salah-Eddine (Oulad M'Hand) is still out (injured). Doğukan (Sinik) has had five full (training) sessions with the group. It's not much but we'll see. He's been out for three and a half months. It's an option for us to use him."
Harvey Vale was injured playing for England and is no longer available for the Luton game. There had to be at least one.
Yeah that's true, but I still don't see us finishing any higher than 19th. Sorry to be so negative, but that's the way I see things at the moment.
I'll be honest, I previously thought we would be challenging once we had anywhere near a full strength squad available. Now? Well, I think we'll be better than we've showed in the past few weeks, but nowhere near challenging. Sinik and Allahyar will add missing pace. Allahyar will add missing energy. Fleming will add too, but not massively more than Elder. But, it's become so much clearer now that the recruitment has been so unbalanced and naive, meaning 16 players in yet we are so short of (quality) options up top, we are badly missing leadership, we are badly missing physical presence in CM, and our defense isn't all we maybe thought it was (in fact, it seems to have gone backward, be that down to Figs, or what's in front of it, or tactics - in practice, likely to be all those things). It's hard to take in that we've made so many signings yet ended up with such basic shortcomings. So, yes, we'll improve, but, unless / until needed signings are made in January, we are unlikely to climb that much imo. A new manager (like Wilder) might well improve things, but the shortcomings in our squad will still be there.
It often takes 3 or 4 windows to get your recruitment right, hopefully, they will see the areas that need to be strengthened and rectify it.
That's true and I'm sure they will do that. But it's still hard to take in how they've managed to bring in so many players yet still have these gaping shortcomings. January and next summer should have been more about fine tunings. #patiencegrasshopper
Firstly, I think there was an underestimation by Acun on what is needed to succeed in the Championship. He thought as did Shota I assume that bringing in quality players from other leagues was going to hit the ground running and take the league by storm. Secondly, you need a balance of players that can do the hard work and those that give you the flare. The last game showed that Seri and Tufan are not willing or able to do the dirty work, you need a player like Smallwood but better in there to do the hard work.
We have bought snow white and the seven dwarves in the season the EFL decided to allow more physical play
It's not so much size as physicality, Billy Bremner wasn't big but no one bullied him successfully. Also, great passers need movement from team mates to exploit, which, at present isn't happening. I do think the physical football stuff is a problem as refs don't seem to apply it consistently.
Dennis wise wasn't big but was a terrier. Helps with pysicality if you are a unit but there are exceptions.
The football history is littered with the men who did the hard yards, letting others play, nasty orrible little fkrs, Stiles, Giles, even Roy Keane, no man mountain but had the aggressive side to his nature. You don't have to be 6ft plus, just have the belief you are!
