And of course this poll preceded the multiple vehicle pile up of Truss’s local radio interviews today, where she ended her long painful silence since Friday with a series of short painful silences.
I’d expect there is a floor though. Surely? 21% is pretty low (and their actual floor is likely higher than that). I’d say 20% is probably a reasonable estimate of the absolute hard liners who won’t even tell a pollster they will vote something other than conservative
Very few Tory MPs care about the poor and the Nasty Party is about to get nastier. The outcome of Trussenomics will mean we will end up losing what's left of the greatest creations ever. The NHS. It’s the only thing the Tory party have left of ours to sell, American Health will buy up the NHS and President Joe Biden will allow a trade deal. Chlorinated chicken anyone?
The interesting thing about a lot of these polls is that the labour gains are greater than the conservative drops
The Lib Dems are being squeezed as well. In an actual election there would be a large amount of tactical voting to get the Tories out, which might mean the Lib Dems doing better, and possibly the Tories even worse. Unless they produce something miraculous their days are numbered.
I'm a believer in tactical voting and an agreement between opposition parties for the best placed candidate to stand. Unlikely as Labour will view these numbers as seeing them winners of a FPTP election. Unlikely to that the high numbers will maintain until the next GE.
Whenever I see Kwasi Kwarteng I always think of this interview.... Have to say, I thnk Truss will be gone by Christmas.
Many years ago I posted on here that the Tories were aiming to end the NHS, as we know it, and a few posters responded with “it will never happen” comments. A couple of years later I posted the same thing and asked if those who had previously knocked back my comments still felt the same way, and no one replied. We are moving ever closer to losing a free at the point of treatment NHS, and this move has been so obvious, for several years, that I despair of the people who still voted for the Tories during this time, including the majority of my own siblings.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the NHS is being deliberately run towards collapse, just like the rest of the country.
Part of me wants her gone now before she does any more damage. Another part of me wants her to stay because she`s manna from heaven for the opposition. If/when the tories do bin her, who are they going to replace her with ? - she just came out top from a tory MP/party member election process.
She came second in the Tory MP process, the party membership were too racist to vote for the MP’s choice.
Can anyone tell me please how long until the Tories can hold a vote of no confidence in Truss ? I think she cannot be touched until the next General Election , but I’m not sure .
You know what - I have been saying this over and over to others (not on here). The MPs wanted him in, for their future electability, for the party and then for the country. The Tory membership would never want a successful Indian man running the country.
It's meant to be 12 months, but if there's an overwhelming amount of dissent, the 1922 committee can change the rules.
