    Leeds Utd v Aston Villa
    Sunday 2nd October@16:30 | Elland Road

Aston Villa will be without four key players for their visit to Elland Road on Sunday as pressure begins to mount on Steven Garrard. Only a point separates the two sides, with Leeds four places above their West Midlands counterparts. Steven Gerrard's side have played a game more, and have already lost four games this season (Bournemouth, Palace, West Ham and Arsenal), and have a -4 goal difference.

To make matters worse, Boubacar Kamara (ligament knee damage), Matty Cash (hamstring), Lucas Digne (stress fracture -ankle) and Diego Carlos (Achilles) are all long term absentees, giving Leeds a massive boost.

Leeds Manager Jesse Marsch faces a selection dilemma in defence. Luke Ayling has recovered from knee surgery and has made cameo roles against Brentford and Southampton's U21's unscathed, whilst Rasmus Kristensen has also shaken off the knock he picked up a month ago in training. He averaged an hour against Croatia and France during the International break with Denmark, earning rave reviews.

Fit again Junior Firpo faces a challenge to displace Pascal Struijk at left back, whilst Diego Llorente is expected to drop to the bench in favour of Liam Cooper. Fresh from International duty with Italy, Wilfred Gnonto is hopeful of making the bench on Sunday. He picked up a knock, which led to his withdrawal against Hungary after an hour, but reports indicate it was precautionary.

Patrick Bamford netted a hat trick for the U21's against Southampton, and could be named in the starting line up. The 29yo has participated in four games so far this season (two as a substitute). With only 171 minutes of game time under his belt, he will be desperate to make an impact. He currently has the lowest of all Leeds players on the Whoscored ratings (6.04).

It is believed that Rodrigo will have to sit this one out. He injured his shoulder during the Brentford game, and was unable to continue. Reports indicate that he'll be out for several weeks yet. Luis Sinisterra was Leeds only (fit) player not to participate in training yesterday (due to travelling) but is expected back at Thorp Arch today.

Cooper & Bamford have to start for me.

Bambi might only last the first half but we should have plenty of options from the bench to replace him when necessary.

Not overly fussed about who gets the nod at right back but have a feeling it will be Kristensen.

In terms of must win it's not that big of a game however the 3 points would be absolutely massive as we look to be a comfortable mid table side.

Great opportunity for us to get some more points on the board, some key injuries to Villa players.

Personally, I wouldn't start with Firpo

I'd like to remind everyone what was being said about Llorente and how dire he has been, we just can't and must not start the match with him on the field

No Llorente for me as his form is bad. Bamford up top is a must and i would start Ayling over Rasmus. The three points are a must as we head for that Eighth place i predicted.
Lucky me agreed last year to watch my cousin dancing at the winter gardens Blackpool this Saturday and Sunday. I will be driving back by the time the game starts.

Great to be talking about the football again at long last!! Don’t see much difference in quality between Ayling and Kristensen but the Dane is Jesse’s man so expect him to get the nod.

I see this as quite a big game for us. It's followed by a tough trip to palace and then we have arsenal. If we don't want to be looking over our shoulders again, we need something from this.

Add to that, we are coming into it after a long break, our last performance was decent but result disasterous... and villa came to our place last year in JM's second game and embarrassed us. A few little undercurrents to this.

I’ll wait till Marsh’s presser and see how many of our players got themselves injured over the last month before saying who should or shouldn’t start. Enjoyed the international break but glad to have the Leeds stuff back

This is how i would line up, lots of permutations there on the bench

    .........................Meslier..............................
    Ayling.......Koch........Cooper.........Struijk.................
    ..............Adams......Roca.................................
    Sinesterra...........Aaronson......Harrison.........
    .........................Bamford.................................

Gnonto, Klich, Gelhardt, Hjelde, Llorente, Klaesson, Kristensen

We definitely look and are a lot stronger than last season.
Dont forget we owe that lil twat McGinn a favour from what he did to young Archie Gray in Aus, fancy Roca to do him.
Also i am tipping that Sinesterra will be better that Raphinha, he looked good for Colombia this week.

Having options is when we start to get a sense of JMs tactical nous. How he sets up the team v the opposition and how he uses subs. A selection of fast handy players who are first teamers or very close to it (as opposed to U23s and U18s) off of the bench gives him options which will demonstrate what he sees and responds to.
