I don’t think DMD was referring to her acting abilities.

And to think they renamed The Madness Of King George III to The Madness Of King George because they were worried Americans might think they had missed parts 1 and 2.<laugh>

An American was surprised that we had had more than one King George, and gobsmacked when I told him we'd had six of them!

Some of us Brits aren’t a lot better. An ex Labour MP answered on a celebrity quiz programme that Henry VIII’s son was Henry VII. Recently I saw someone on another one answer. that Elizabeth I came to the throne in 1890.

Does anybody know why films that are dubbed, always sound so obviously dubbed even when you're not looking at the screen?

Cartoons manage to make it seem realistic, and radio plays don't sound the same, so why do dubbed films have that distinct flat, almost lifeless sound to them?

financial reasons, usually dubbed voice actors are the lowest paid they can possibly get away with
**** equipment, not access to the native track
when going from one language to another there's always a lot of nuance that's lost. It can be very, very hard to make a perfectly accurate exact translation of anything more than the simplest sentences. You can get away with a little more in subtitles, since some stuff reads okay but sounds kind of awkward when read aloud etc

Has it been critiqued in the HDM though Chazz? If not I’m not going to bother.

Gone Fishing is fantastic to watch with two good mates sharing tales. Bob Mortimer is hilarious, love it.

I find that All Creatures Great and Small is also very easy and relaxing to watch too.
