You are aware that you're moaning at him on match threads to make certain changes, like the rest of us? Then he doesn't make said changes. He persists with Mo. Hasn't addressed full back issues. I'm all for a good long term manager but I just think at times the bloke is baffling.
I'm with you Tom on most of what you have posted but given that the squads were largely the same how can we explain these 2 performances - Chelsea and Villa? The faith shown in Djenepo is foolish, never should have been given a new contract. Diallo has never looked like a quality mid and now looks like he never will be. Moving Elyonoussi to a central 10 role when he's not a creative passer and defends deep leaves Adams isolated just like it did last season when we played Broja up there. That looked like a poor squad at the start and it turned out to be worse which is on the management team. But just the sheer abysmal performance from every player needs answered. Did the team know they were setup to fail? Because they sure played like it they knew they weren't getting anything out of it. When we see KWP, Prowse, Djenepo, Adarma, Ely, Diallo, Che putting in 3, 4 out of 10 performances then questions are rightly asked.
It's all there is for now. As I promised before, we might have a new poll during the World Cup if we're in the relegation zone by then, and I'll be voting Ralph Out just to annoy the mythologists. If fewer people participate this time I'm not sure what it would prove though.
By the World Cup, we'll have played 15 games. 7 at home, 8 away. We'll have also played the traditional top 6 (Manure, City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool). You'd generally assume that any points against the top 6 are bonus points (of which we've claimed 3 so far). By the World Cup, if we are on 18+ points then I think he deserves to stay. This would mean he needs 11 points from the next 8 games: Everton (H) City (A) West Ham (H) Bournemouth (A) Arsenal (H) Palace (A) Newcastle (H) Liverpool (A) From the above, he needs 3 or 4 wins plus a draw or two. If he can't get that from those fixtures then it's time for him to leave. If I was the board i'd be expecting 3 wins from Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth, Palace or Newcastle. I don't think that's that easy but it's what we need. I'm positive but I think we'll be between 13 and 16 points but I'm hoping for better!
So has anything actually happened? I’ve not read anything much since the start of the week’s rumour that he might be gone. And a quick flick through this thread only seems to show the Ralph Ins telling the Ralph Outs why they’re wrong and the Ralph Outs telling the Ralph Ins why they’re wrong without anyone really having any interest in the other’s point of view except to hope they earn some petty argument points against them.
We're definitely capable of getting results in all of those home games. If we can get 2 wins and 2 draws from those plus 3 or 4 points from the Bournemouth and Palace games that would be good. No reason why we can't either.
Out of interest what were you hoping for / expecting vs Wolves & Villa away? Probably more than zero & 1x crap & 1x uninspiring performance (yes Wolves, imo it was virtually crap also).
I can see us getting 3 to 4 points too. Not as confident about the other 8. When we're not on song, we're rubbish and that's what's hard to swallow for me. Our performances are often poles apart in terms of quality and it makes it hard to ever be optimistic about an upcoming game because we never know what team is coming out - the one that sparkles and looks dangerous or the the backwards, sideways, oops, that was careless one. I hope you're right, and that Ralph will gets us to a point where we are at least consistent and can work out how to make us dangerous in front of goal again...
Wolves I wasn't really expecting a result - hopeful of a point (which we really should have got). Given Villa's recent form I was more expectant of a result there. Very disappointing result and performance.
I would have expected 1 or 2 points from Villa and Wolves away. Wolves we probably deserved a point. Villa was an off day like I haven't seen in many years (although neither side were any good). I hope it will be many more years before I see us play so poorly again!
